What travelers are saying
- RickardoSedona, AZ280 contributionsAbsolutely amazing and unique.

Since ancient times Pigeons have been used in the Cappadocia region for food and fertiliser for the infertile soil. While pigeons no longer play such an important role in the area, their rocky homes have still been maintained by locals and can be found atop rock pillars and inside excavated cave houses and churches throughout the region, however, they are particularly numerous in this valley. A great way to see Pigeon Valley is from above via a hot air balloon tour. Tours leave every morning just before sunrise so you will already be floating above the stunning landscape as the sun comes up.Written June 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were staying at the Ascencion Hotel so getting here was a short 50 meter walk. The view of the city with the lights was magical and lots of picture taking tourists were there. Clearly the place is very popular as every night we saw people walking or cars driving to the top. There is a car park at the top and a cafe but if you just want to walk on up if you want. While there is a cafe open at the top, there were no expectations to buy anything. If you drive here note that the last 50 meters are VERY steep.Written July 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DARREN SGold Coast, Australia14 contributionsWe walked from our hotel Sultan Cave Suites up to the Open Air Museum traversing all the caves and pigeon houses along the way. Then we went back down along the Sword Valley, this part is an amazing walk through skinny yet deep gorges. Absolutely recommend this it is amazing.Written May 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- charlie_lindsellLondon, UK20 contributionsLovely but strenuous walk. Three quarters of the way up we mistakenly took a right turn which lead to the farmed areas not the trail so we had to turn back and retrace our steps for about 15 minutes.
After 3 hours reached the top and managed to hitch hike to the next junction. From there we hailed a passing taxi to get back to Goreme.Written April 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mostly you can go to visit that valley with safari jeeps, can not reach with a normal car. We get there with Tempest Jeep Safari / Uluer group and other secret places also.Written January 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - happykoabugHonolulu, HI600 contributionsOne of the stops in Cappadocia that our tour group did. This rock formation really did look like a camel. There are other different rock formations nearby. Not too much parking in the area.Written May 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kuzey D1 contributionI really like the rugs they have, i purchased for my office and room at home. They have rugs for various prices and pattern design. Definitely suggest to spend some time and learn about how rugs are made and in harmony with their meanings.Written August 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sandy SAlbuquerque, NM1,035 contributionsComing to Ucihisai, the tallest rock in Cappadocia, we saw a tower of tuff and a picturesque warren of cave dwellings, some still used as houses, restaurants and shops. It was definitely worth a stop as a photo op. Staying on the same road, we came to several spots offering breathtaking panoramas of the Göreme Valley. One, Honey Valley, featured red cliffs reminiscent of Abiquu, the New Mexico geological formation made famous by painter Georgia O’Keefe.Written July 12, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anna M5 contributionsI walked in wanting to buy a rug for my parents and perhaps one for myself.
I didn’t realise I was going to get so much information from how they are made, the difference in quality, the difference in what’s used to make them and colour them, the story behind all the different patterns and designs.
We were treated to hot apple tea while making the hard decision on what one to buy, there were so many to choose from but in the end I walked out with one for my parents and a very special one for myself.Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We visited the shop in March of 2024 looking for authentic Turkish rugs & pillows and had the most unbelievable shopping experience. Not only did we find some of the most beautiful pieces we had ever seen, but we were also able to sit down with the owner Ruth and her assistant Osman. They were so kind, welcoming, and so knowledgable about rug weaving and its history. We learned so much about Turkey's culture, history and also new tips/skills for buying certain textiles and patterns. Thank you Ruth for having such an amazing shop and eye for design - we can't wait to go back!Written September 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
