The National Park section of the ancient Roman city of Caesarea is popular with travelers and locals. The name "Caesarea" is derived from the title for the Roman ruler, which is quite common name in the empire of Rome. There are a number of things to see in the Caesarea National Park, including the harbor. In times gone by, Caesarea was important Mediterranean port. The Roman amphitheater will hold 6,000 spectators; it is one of the largest venues in modern-day Israel.

To be honest, the title should contain the word "remains", but considering when the aqueduct was built, one can only be delighted with the craftsmanship of the Roman builders. Looking at these ruins, I wondered what would remain in 2000 years of these structures that we proudly construct today ...

Not easy to get to. Read posts on catching train and bus number 80 etc and thought I was prepared. When I eventually found the bus stop for bus number 80, it was not due for another hour. Easiest way is to catch a tram to Binyanmina, ask the station staff for the train going to Caesarea, one stop away, then if you don’t have an Israeli SIM card, ask someone to get you a taxi - 50 shekels and 15 mins. Returning, I asked the man outside selling drinks to get me a taxi 👍

The scenery is amazing, so interesting to see how these people spent their leisure time with the track and the baths.

The Caesarea Museum is in the vaults underneath the old Temple of Augustus. The museum was excellent with a good film explaining how the site came into being and then lots of excavated artifacts from the site. Free to enter as well.

They had a short (5/10 min) video which gave information about Caesarea and king Herod, why it was built etc. They also had some artefacts and things to look at. It is not that big inside. I would recommend going here first, before you look at the ruins as then you get your bearings and information at the start.

Really nice course with 2022 being an exceptional year of upkeep due to the Maccabia games (the Jewish Olympics) that were held. Tee time should really be pr-booked, especially in the morning hours. There are not that many cars so worth pre-booking one if you do not want ta walk. Four tees so can be any type of challenge you want. I have to mention that green fees are pretty steep so ask before you make the trip..
