Ok, so this is an amazing monument - the issues seem to be with how you see it/cost/ and the challenges with guides/trinket sellers/etc. This is India and with the best will in the world you are not going to change a lot of what will irk a western visitor. There will always be these things. We booked with VIATOR which I would recommend. There are various offers on line for wha you see and what you get for your money and there is only so much point in comparing them. The best way to minimise the hassle is to get a private tour - you get driven around, informed about the site, get some protection from the sellers/'guides' etc. We got a train from Delhi and was 'hand held' all the way. Worth it. And we have travelled a lot and still welcomed this. Our trip comprised of the TM and Fort, lunch and a well informed guide. Yes we paid for some photos....and yes they tried to sell us more and we politely declined and they accepted it. No hassle. These people are trying to make a living in a country with lots of inequalities. So the Taj and the fort - brilliant - see them. Be warned - they don't let you take much in and their checks are thorough - so only phone/money/water/tissues/camera NO books/food/pens/microphones/.

I went for Agra fort visit with a friend, taking a taxi from delhi and back. Apparantly all buildings visits were free today because of women's day! We took an official guide with an official ID which turned out to be a good move. Agra fort has a more significant history, with three generations of great mughals: Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan (and partly Aurangzeb), than even Delhi's red fort. Each of its rooms has a story of its own. The best part is: unlike Delhi's red fort which got partly destroyed by the British after 1857 war, this Agra fort is far better preserved.

The tomb sits on the bank of the Yamuna River. It's near the Taj Mahal; but, it's not walkable. (Ride bikes, or hire a taxi).

The complex and garden is a nice spot to sit riverside and escape the mania that's the Taj Mahal.

I made contact directly and asked to see the sanctuary work as I volunteer at London Zoo. Their works is amazing and to see first hand the care they give the rescued bears is humbling. You can volunteer with the organisation as well.
The education programme with the Kandalar tribe is making the sloth bears future more secure and the skills they are being taught in craft work help them to maintain an income.

I visited this place after a Taj Mahal tour, and it felt like stepping into an art gallery. They showed the detailed process of how everything is made and explained the variety of pieces on display. The prices were very reasonable, and they safely shipped the products to my home via UPS, so I didn’t need to carry them back myself. If you’re looking for exotic home decor items, I highly recommend this place.

This was Shah Jahan's bathroom; but what a bathroom!! He had it constructed with extra thick walls so that the inside would always have a pleasant temper. To me, it is the most magnificent building in Agra Fort.

Visited today.Quite sad to think the emperor Jahan was imprisoned here by his so. Who also killed his brother, so much for family values and spells out greed and power.Nonetheless what a view of the Taj Mahal from here…not a bad prison cell

The highlights of the show are the grandeur surrounding the stage lighting and the costumes of performers and of course the the Taj replica that is shown under various natural situations. The sound infrastructure however is poor as someone sitting at the balcony will hardly get clarity of voice if listening to original language.

In the heyday of the Agra Fort these gardens were the principal square in the living apartments of the ladies of the Royal Household. They were nothing like the gardens you see today, which are pleasant enough in their own right, but were used for growing vines and flowers. At the rear of the gardens, overlooking the Yamuna River and well worth a visit, are the small, but exquisite, Roshanara Ara Pavilion and the Jahanara Ara Pavilion; which have a history all of their own.

My trip to Agra exceeded my expectations, I was able to see all the attractions, including the Taj Mahal for sunrise and sunset. I was never rushed and I took my time. Car was very clean DK was always on time with a big smile. DK went out of his way to take me to special shops and restaurants at my request. When I return to Agra, I’ll be sure to look up DK again. He’s truly the best, and this is coming from somebody who has traveled all around the world.

Good food, great drink selection but the experience of learning each lady's story and spirit of overcomer was what makes this place so special!

The carpets are pieces of art each one of them. Imran was very kind in showing us how his family tradition is carried through generations. I love my magical carpet that I am taking home with me. Thank you Imran for your hospitality.

Easy shopping experience in a very convenient location. I am fine haggling for purchases but this store just makes it easy, everything is marked, no haggling at all, then they even took a little off at the end. Yes, probably could have gotten things a little cheaper elsewhere, but this store was neat and clean, and they had everything I wanted to take home to my friends and family. Polite and helpful staff offered lots of information about items they sell.
