- NABWashington DC, DC412 contributionsFabulous experience on and viewing the water. Took a boat trip as part of day tour to Guatapé and the Piedra. Beautiful sites and interesting history. Highly recommend a visit. It’s spectacular to see it from the top of the Piedra.Written June 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - T WFort Lauderdale, FL87 contributionsParque Arví is a sprawling nature reserve located just outside Medellín, Colombia.
The park covers almost 40 acres (approximately 16,000 hectares) of dense forest, plants, and ecosystems.
It’s situated on top of a hill, offering sweeping views of the surrounding area.
We took the short hike with an English speaking, experienced tour guide, Oscar! He was very entertaining and pointed out endemic species like birds, butterflies and orchids amidst the lush forest. We took the most scenic way to get there by riding Medellín’s Metrocable L Line (requires a separate ticket from the standard metro line). Whether you’re interested in nature, history, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Parque Arví is a must-visit when in Medellín! 🌿🏞️Written August 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - T WFort Lauderdale, FL87 contributionsThe Medellin Metrocable is more than just a mode of transportation—it’s an experience that will leave you in awe. As you ascend from the city center to the surrounding hillside communities, you’ll be treated to panoramic vistas of Medellin and its lush countryside. The gondola ride takes approximately 30 minutes, during which you’ll witness the vibrant tapestry of this transformed city.
🌆 Scenic Views: The Metrocable offers some of the most breathtaking views in Medellin. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or simply want to soak in the beauty, this ride won’t disappoint.
🚡 Efficient and Affordable: Your regular metro ticket covers the cost of the ride, making it an affordable way to explore. Plus, you can take the trip multiple times without exiting the station—perfect for capturing different lighting conditions or simply enjoying the journey.
🕰️ Timing Matters: Keep an eye on the last car from the top—it’s essential to plan your return. And yes, the hilltop residents rely on the Metrocable for their daily commute, so it can get busy during peak hours.
🌟 Verdict: If you’re visiting Medellin, don’t miss this cable car adventure. It’s a testament to the city’s transformation and a must-do for any traveler. 🌟
Remember, safety is paramount. While the Metrocable offers incredible views, please stay informed about any updates or guidelines. Enjoy your ride! 🚠🌇Written August 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a great place to stop for a day or two but be aware that you need to have your transport out of the place, pre booked because you can't just flag down a bus!Written May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SupercordsLehi, UT105 contributionsI gave this very Colombian amusement park 5 stars because I was there (twice!) at the end of the year when the Christmas light shows are going. Best Christmas light display I've seen anywhere in the world!! Not to be missed.
So it's pretty amazing that it's FREE to get into the park to see the lights in the evening. You can follow the path around the lake and see all the sights. There are places to eat, drink, and shop. Tons of photo ops.
I actually arrived at 3 pm (when the park opened) and paid for a 10 ride pass. Later I would discover that there aren't even 10 decent rides in the park, but it's cheaper than paying 7,000 COP per ride. Oh, and you only have until 6 pm to use your ride tickets.
Still, I didn't regret my purchase. The water ride is the best in the park. Two giant drops guaranteed to get you soaked. I did the pirate ship that does 360s and makes the blood rush to your head. Why do I do that to myself?!?! Skipped the one that jolts you around like a series of car crashes.
The El Aguila zip line ride isn't half bad. The jungle cruise is not up to Disney levels by a long shot. Almost comical how bad it is. Had a great time in the bumper cars. Never gets old. Rode down the giant slide. Skip the jerky 4D experience.
Kids will have more fun than adults. There are a bunch of rides just for them. Nothing fancy here. No real thrill rides. More about killing off an afternoon with some fun and Colombian culture.
I did the botanical garden in the morning, then Parque Explora, and then Parque Norte all in the same day. They are all right next to each other.Written January 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When I arrived in Medellín at night, I was very amazed by how beautiful the city is. We toured some important places in the city like the stadium, I was Fascinated with this place. We also went to La Piedra del Peñol, it is a very beautiful place but I was Frightened and worried because I'm afraid of heights. It was perhaps one of my best experiences although it only lasted two days due to the problem of the pandemicWritten March 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Molly N6 contributions5 beers for 30 mil pesos on a Friday night AND live music. Tons a locals and a super fun atmosphere. Small selection of beers but have something for everyone. - Elkin CToronto, Canada70 contributionsThis place is located outside of Medellin, about an hour away; has good pools, waive pool, quiet river, and is a good place to spend a day with your famili and friends. Has restaurants inside the park, if you arrive early, you can get a kiosk to keep your stuff, you can bring your own food as well.Written January 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SAV - SouthAmerVoyager/California SurferMedellin, Colombia9,227 contributionsI have lived in Medellin for the past 3 years and my first visit to Parque de Bolivar was almost 10 years ago - the park/plaza recently reopened after a 6 month renovation.
The best part of the renovation is that the fountain in front of the Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Medellín church is working and it is wonderful to see it in operation as it has been out of commission for more years than I can remember.
The plaza has completely new concrete pavers and a new large metal structure located on the southern side of the plaza (see my photos).
There is a flea market which occurs on the first Saturday of every month. I have been a number of times in the past 5 years and also walked through the first Saturday of this month of February 2020.
At night the area still can be sketchy but know that there is a police presence with a building (police station of sorts) located within the plaza on the north-west side.
Of course what Bolivar plaza would not be complete without a stature remembering this iconic figure who was so instrumental in freedom for Gran Colombia and so to this plaza has a great statue of Simon Bolivar on his glorious horse ready for battle.
Suggest a walk on Junin, the pedestrian only street, and approaching the plaza from this vantage point.
If the Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Medellín is open simply walk in and take a look at the inside of this all brick church.
The only reason why I give this 4 stars is because of some pestering vendors who may spoil the visit for some and despite this I would consider this plaza/park a must see when you visit Medellin.Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Guillermo v33 contributionsGreat place! very friendly people, the owner speaks English a bit. He's really friendly and will help you where he can. If you have your own climbing shoes, good! but for a small price you can hire a pair. The place is a bit dusty and the routes are somewhat chaotic, but you can climb!!! Fresh drinks and food at the counter. I don't know if they have showers... I shower at home ;-)Written September 1, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thibault P21 contributionsThis was a nice escape room. We did the Amazon one, and the riddles were quite fun and challenging. The only thing that I wasn't too fond of was the decoration/settings. I totally get that it's not easy to make a room in the Amazon, but this made it a little bit less "real". Otherwise, all good!Written June 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alex P2 contributionsSandy and the rest of the team made our trip to Guatape really amazing. What a great tour guide we had! He was friendly, accommodating and very informative. He had excellent English with a smooth flow! ;) Thanks for a great trip guys! We enjoyed lunch, the boat ride and of course Guatape especially!Written November 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
