What travelers are saying
- SupercordsLehi, UT105 contributionsI gave this very Colombian amusement park 5 stars because I was there (twice!) at the end of the year when the Christmas light shows are going. Best Christmas light display I've seen anywhere in the world!! Not to be missed.
So it's pretty amazing that it's FREE to get into the park to see the lights in the evening. You can follow the path around the lake and see all the sights. There are places to eat, drink, and shop. Tons of photo ops.
I actually arrived at 3 pm (when the park opened) and paid for a 10 ride pass. Later I would discover that there aren't even 10 decent rides in the park, but it's cheaper than paying 7,000 COP per ride. Oh, and you only have until 6 pm to use your ride tickets.
Still, I didn't regret my purchase. The water ride is the best in the park. Two giant drops guaranteed to get you soaked. I did the pirate ship that does 360s and makes the blood rush to your head. Why do I do that to myself?!?! Skipped the one that jolts you around like a series of car crashes.
The El Aguila zip line ride isn't half bad. The jungle cruise is not up to Disney levels by a long shot. Almost comical how bad it is. Had a great time in the bumper cars. Never gets old. Rode down the giant slide. Skip the jerky 4D experience.
Kids will have more fun than adults. There are a bunch of rides just for them. Nothing fancy here. No real thrill rides. More about killing off an afternoon with some fun and Colombian culture.
I did the botanical garden in the morning, then Parque Explora, and then Parque Norte all in the same day. They are all right next to each other.Written January 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just a little before San Jeronimo, Parque Los Tamanarindos offers a blend of pools, water slides and a nice lazy river set within the lush foothills of the Andes. There's always a pretty vista and the grounds themselves are very clean and well preserved.
Depending on the time of year, park admission for the rides only is about $6 USD for people and kids over 5. Under 5 - it's free! Parking on slow days is typically free. On busy weekends, its a few dollars.
The park is large, on multiple terraces and definitely will require walking about to enjoy. Although PLT sells everything you would imagine, you will be better off bringing your own towels, sunscreen, suits and water bottles. The prices within the park are very fair - nothing is overpriced (IMHO) but, its more the convenience of not waiting in line. As noted by others, PLT requires hair covering for ALL who enter the pool. Assuming that you don't have them for yourselves - buy them there; they are CHEAP.
Also as noted by others - the water is not heated. This means that crisp early mornings are even more bracing. A late morning arrival is fine. The park typically closes by 5:30PM which is an hour before last light.
The park is well-lit, well-staffed and certainly about as clean as anything could be in the middle of the jungle! As with most places in Colombia, a little Spanish will go a long way. The majority of signs are in Spanish and English and the pool-supervisors are very good at slowly explaining and showing things in Spanish to the point that all of my relatives understood without me having to translate! Supervision is top notch!
Food service: meh! Actually, I was disappointed. I hope on a different day it might be better. The "Menu el DÃa" is a solid value if one can deal with the carbohydrate-fueled paisa diet is the best option and offered in the main food area in the park. there's a stand that offers pizza and burgers that is open on busy weekends. I know that you're not supposed to bring in your own food, but next time, I would probably pack sandwiches. Plenty of kiosks offer water, soft drinks and beer and snacks which is another option.
The climate differences between MedellÃn, San Jeronimo and Santa Fe de AntioquÃa are significant. I think that this locally operated park is a wonderful value and worth seeing on one's trip to MedellÃn. It reflects the family-friendly culture of Colombia and on a nice warm day - I can think of no better place to enjoy yourselfWritten April 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One is a wave pool that goes off every so often, the second is a swimming pool with 4 slides for the kids and he 3rd is a groups of 3 or 4 big slides. I will say that we had a lot of fun but I wish there were more to do.Written July 15, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elkin CToronto, Canada70 contributionsThis place is located outside of Medellin, about an hour away; has good pools, waive pool, quiet river, and is a good place to spend a day with your famili and friends. Has restaurants inside the park, if you arrive early, you can get a kiosk to keep your stuff, you can bring your own food as well.Written January 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - theeseer2014Medellin, Colombia8 contributionsOne hour north more or less depending on traffic is the suburb and parks of Rio Negro and San Antonio. Taken together they offer an entertainment center in the San Antonio Plaza and nearby the Excellent Confama Tutucon park which is a smaller Disneyland type location with swimming pools and and rides for the kids. The people of Medellin have "fincas" in the area and horseback riding is available in the wide open spaces, clean air and comfortable moderate weather. Enjoy it and experience the great people and country atmosphere.Written March 23, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
