- John DBeijing, China12 contributionsGood place to cool off after walking in heat and find out more about Sichuan province history. Exhibition provides some nice ancient artifacts. Free of charge!Written August 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MargieGary3 contributionsThis museum is a must see in Chengdu. The artifacts exposed are dated back to the 4-5000 years BC. The museum has the largest collection of ancient artifacts in China. The entrance is free. You will spend there at least 4-5 hours.
There is also a large exposition of puppets. Puppet theaters were and still remain very popular in China. And in this museum you will see all possible kinds of puppets ever used in theaters. I think kids will mostly enjoy this section.
There is a some nice cafe on the 4th floor where you can have rest and drink a cup of coffee.
Btw the museum is organizing different exhibitions from time to time. When we visited the museum, there was an exposition of European artists of the 17-20th cc. So we were really lucky. The ticket's price was 80rmb. Among the works exposed we could see a couple of works of Matisse, Van Gogh, Modigliani and Dali. Built like a palace with marble and gold and absolutely spotless, as are the cars, it's a very different experience than most car museums. Doesn't have the volumes of LA's Peterson's, but the quality of restoration is flawless. Some great cars here and a very pleasant way to spend a rainy afternoon in Chengdu if you like classic cars at all.Written September 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roving29984013 contributionsWe booked the VIP experience which includes either a massage or ear cleaning and Has a seating area at the front of the theatre with excellent views of the stage.
Tea is available throughout the evening and snacks which are sunflower seeds, which the Chinese can eat at a rate of knots!
Alcohol can be purchased. We paid 200 yen for a bottle of red wine which had obviously corked and was absolutely revolting and un-drinkable. (Great wall of China red wine) Better to be avoided !!
Overall it was an entertaining evening. Very funny in parts, despite not understanding the language and the face changers were amazing.Written November 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shir H18 contributionsThe place is very beautiful and special, maby even more for adults. With that said, it's about 2 hours bus ride (there's a direct bus) from Chengdu city center, and we pretty much saw everything twice after an hour and a half, maby two.Written December 9, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Canuttus1Oslo, Norway3 contributionsThis place, which name over the entrance reads Sichuan Museum, is no less than a pearl of a museum. I planned to spend a few hours, but ended up with spending the whole day there. If you are interested in the history of the area, then this is the place to go. And the fact that the Cartier exhibition is on these days does not detract from it.Written July 19, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
