After visiting Wuhou Shrine, we exited conveniently to Jinli Street. Earlier on we took the metro to Gaoshengqiao and walked to Wuhou Shrine. The street is quite compact and the many varieties of shops made walking and browsing here quite relaxing. We even saw a shop with a white llama and another one with a brown llama. We also saw all kinds of snacks arranged in an attractive manner to entice buyers. Of course we also saw the ear-cleaning corner. After exiting Jinli Street we walked to Qin Shan Zhai restaurant for a delicious dinner.

Also another tourist attraction for local food lovers. Somehow overcrowded and all the shops are pushing visitors to have more clients. For me it’s nice to walk through and feel the atmosphere.

This is the shopping Mecca of Chengdu. It has every you need, from the high end ones to the budget friendly shops. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity.

    This is worth a visit.

Chengdu is a very pleasant and enjoyable city, with LOTS to see within the greater city boundaries, as well as further afield outside of the wider Chengdu.

It has a population of around 22 million, but you would not often be aware of that. Wide streets, lots of green spaces/parks. And a VERY comprehensive and efficient Metro train network, also with very high speed train links to other parts of China as well.

All city buses are electric. All cabs (Didi) and almost all private vehicles are electric. motor cycles and scooters are electric. And almost all local delivery vehicles are also electric. This makes for a VERY different "feel" about the city as one moves around.

There are many beautiful places to visit around the wider city area, and even the main CBD itself is VERY impressive. In general, a very stunning, yet strangely laidback place to visit.

Warning: Acceptance of Western credit/debit cards is VERY rare, so "touch and go" payment facilities using Western cards is effectively non-existent. I think western card usage might only be available in some of the high-profile luxury hotels.

But... "touch and go" (or "scan and go") is slmost EXCLUSIVELY used by the locals... such as having the Alipay app on your phone. You can select English as your language in order to use the app, and with some initial hiccups, my partner and I were both able to downliad and then link the Alipay app to our Visa debit and credit cards.
Then you use your phone, with the Alipay app, absolutely EVERYWHERE in China... either by scanning a QR code in the shop/venue, or by displaying your own unique Alipay QR code to the vendor from yoyr phone. (I could never work out why some shops required to scan your own unique QR code while most vendors required you to simply use Alipay on your phone to place on their scanner.)

The Panda patk on the outskirts of Chengdu is a "must see", and allow a day for that.

Hire cars, with driver (using Didi), can be booked through the Alipay app, and operate similar to Uber here, and we could usually get a car within a couple of minutes... and they are CHEAP compared to taxi fares in many western cities.

When comparing Chengdu to more popular and more easterly Chinese cities such as Shanghai or Beijing, we found that there seemed to be very few westerners here. But this was never a problem for us, as we were always treated very respectfully, even though I think that to some locals we were seen as a bit of a novelty.

We also took three days out to take a 90-minute high-speed train trip some 400kms north to see Huanglong National Park, and next day Jiuzhaigou National Park. Absolutely STUNNING views.

But be aware of the thin air around Huanglong Park (at around 4,000 metres) as it is VERY hard going if you are not used to low oxygen air. I had to resort to buying a couple of portable/disposable oxygen cans, which are readily available if you end up needing it there in the main tourist areas.

We have visited other Chinese cities in the past (such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen etc.), none of those can compete with Chengdu. So much so that, except for Chinese politics, my partner and I are quite sure that we would enjoy living in this very pleasant city.

Thoroughly recommend a visit of (ideally) at least one week.

We rested here after our visit to Chengdu Museum across the road. It is a very big public square with beautiful flowered lawn and benches. It is a great place to relax and enjoy like the locals. From here we walked to People's Park.

Entry onto the wall was 30 RMB for adults - although like many attractions - free if your over 60! The walk is steep but easyish - take a photo of the park at the bottom so you can map your progress . There are drinks and toilet stops along the way and the views across the mountain ridge great. The entry ticket , I believe gives you access to bus back down the mountain once at the top, if you want to walk back down ,don’t go through last turnstile and miss the temple. We went to the temple and went down using the roller coaster and slide, 60 RMB for the two rides( includes entry ticket). Worth every penny! The first roller coaster is a cross between bob slay and roller coaster, need to use the brakes! The slide they give you gloves for braking and trousers to save rear wear! We had caught a didi ride from Chengdu, 50 minutes around 100 RMB , and finally found Wi-Fi to arrange return one same sort of cost.

After walking around the temple grounds, make sure to explore the streets around the temple, which have some excellent arts and crafts shops and museums. Plus plenty of dining options.

While Chengdu is old, having been a major stop on the Silk Road, very little of the old remains. Chengdu is a bustling city or maybe 20 million, and so most of the old has been erased or built over many times. So, to feel old China, you go to places like the monastery, the streets around it, Jinli street, and the “wide and narrow” streets.

It was more of the same but not as large or crowded as some of the more famous streets in Chengdu. I was very happy to find a Dairy Queen though hahaha!

This tomb is not very big - you really don't been to spend more than 20 mins or so here - but it is certainly interesting. It's also a little far from any of Chengdu's other attractions so it is a bit of a pain to get to.

Many of the woman of Chengdu are very fashion conscious, and love to shop. Yulin Road is one of the main shopping streets in Chengdu. You can find high end fashion here. It is a pretty street that in fact does have brick sidewalks that are well cared for, instead of the broken concrete you will find in a lot of the other parts of the city. One word of caution, if you are a woman that wears anything above a small size 8, you will not find anything in your size in any of the stores here. The sales people, if they speak English, have absolutely no problem telling you they have nothing in your size., even if you are there to just browse or buy something for someone else, so make sure you have your "thick skin" with you. Seriously!! Pack accordingly when you come to China.

International Brand Stores, Luxury Restaurants, Clubs and Live Performances, and many other venues to enjoy... Yes; expensive!!! but this shopping mall has a different feeling than the rest you will find in ChengDu; Grab you wallet, watch your budget and enjoy a nice dinner or night with your friends or couple; this is one of the chosen places by foreigners to have fun in ChengDu. Public Art exhibits are common too, don't miss it.

This road is quite busy for both foot traffic and cars and bikes. The 900-meter-long Qintai Road featuring structures and buildings with the styles of the Han (202BC -- 220AD) and Tang (618 - 907) dynasties, is a famous cultural street to commemorate two legendary figures, Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru!
If you have the time, I recommend you spend some time on Qintai Road.

A big mall with various high-end fashion brands and conveniently situated right on top of the metro station. The place is also full of western and asian restaurants to satisfy your appetite.
