Our tour did not include an English speaking guide but the Chinese driver was more than efficient. He was very helpful and kind and gave us valuable information about Chengdu. Also safe driving which is not always the case in China. The car was very comfortable. The driver picks you up at the hotel and drives you back there. The Giant Buddha is amazing and you can either visit by boat or a short hike in the mountain. Definitely worth seen. This tour is highly recommended!

Lucy arranged an excellent short notice tour of the Panda Sanctuary of Chengdu. She was very knowledgeable on both the Sanctuary and Chengdu history which made it an enjoyable and informative tour. She knew each of the panda's, their enclosures and timing to visit which made it a breeze. Make sure you go early, as the Panda's are more active and it gets very busy. Thanks Lucy!

While you can travel to the panda breeding center on your own, the center is large and it’s easy to miss some of the exhibits! My tour guide June was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We got there before the crowds and had a pleasant walk around the many enclosures as June told me about the history of the center and the pandas in the exhibits. She knew exactly where to go to maximize our time. We got to the baby panda spot early in order to get a good spot to see him - something I would have totally missed going alone! This tour was certainly the highlight of my trip to Chengdu.

What an amazing show 😁 full of laughs and excitement. Miss Daisy was very helpful and kind, she made me feel welcome and lead to my seat, which was the best view. She explained all the extra VIP stuff included with the ticket (ear cleaning or messag). Definitely a must see in Chengdu.

Worley was a great guide who took us to at least four major tourist attractions in Chengdu in four hours from pickup to our hotel at the W and back. She is very knowledgeable including history of religions, architecture, and is a big panda fan. The tour was not the typical bike ride we are used to where we stayed on bikes the majority of the time. We took the metro and walked around the places we visited on this tour and probably traveled on bike for about 10 km.

It was a wonderful introduction of the city that allowed us to see Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley, People’s Park, and Qingyang Palace. We were pressed on time otherwise Worley would’ve spent more time in the locations. Thank you, Worley, for the great tour!

Great place to visit the cute pandas. I didn’t quite like the enclosures as the glass makes it difficult for photography and people usually crowd around that small viewing area. However, the open air sections are lovely and natural.

We spent not one, but two days with Aline in Chengdu, learning about Sichuan cooking. We had originally booked the first day only, but wound up having so much fun that we scheduled another day later in our trip.

Aline was a fantastic guide, helping me with logistics and questions before we even arrived in China. She was a lot of fun once we got there, and not only taught us delicious recipes and cooking techniques, but also taught us a lot of interesting things about the cuisine and culture.

Even on the days we didn't see her she was helpful and always able to answer questions for me about things like getting around the city, and where to find places.
Next time I'm in the area I would look her up in a heartbeat!! I hope we get to meet again and have more fun adventures.

Lily is amazing and helped me for a few months before my trip answering all of questions and helped me pick the right volunteering program at the perfect sanctuary. She was always in communication with me and was quick to create me a backup plan when heavy rain hit and my original plan could have been canceled. She's extremely professional and she has the kindest and most knowledgeable guides working for her. Shelley my tour guide was amazing as well! She had so much knowledge about Chengdu and gave us alot of cool things to do near our hotel and a great hotpot place! She was a great guide and not overbearing she let us enjoy our time and captured moments! I highly recommend Westchinago for tours in China they are the best and make sure you get an amazing experience!

This is an odd one to review, because there are two aspects: the Panda Volunteering at Dujiangyuan, and West China Go who helped arrange it.

I’ll start with the latter and say this: if you are not Chinese and you’ve decided on the Dujiangyuan panda day, you should absolutely book through West China Go. Lily, who was my contact, was helpful, efficient, easy to correspond with, and I felt like she has a passion for what she’s doing. Most importantly for me, she dealt with the required medical form via email, saving a lot of money, time and hassle of doing this privately in our home country. The West China Go package also included transportation and entrance fees to the panda base, so it was fully inclusive of pretty much everything you need for the day.

Regarding the panda volunteering, you really need to be aware of what you’re getting. If you’re just browsing tours and you have a lot of money to spend to get close to pandas, this isn’t for you. Don’t get me wrong: it *will* cost a lot and you *will* get closer to pandas than your average tourist, including a chance to feed them a few sticks of carrot, but that’s not what the volunteering day is about. You will also spend time smashing bamboo against the ground, making ‘cake’ for the pandas, eating unfamiliar Chinese food in the staff canteen, and sweeping up panda poo. Is it an authentic ‘day-in-the-life’ of a panda keeper? No, it’s way easier than that. But it’s a bit of fun and something different.

Personally, I had a great day. Yes, it was the most expensive thing we did in a two-week tour of China. Yes, it was a long car journey from Chengdu. Yes, the panda feeding time was short. Yes, there is nearly two hours of free time during the day (we used this to see other pandas, plus red pandas and black bears also at the centre). But if seeing pandas is on your “must do” list in China/Chengdu, and you want to devote more to the experience than just going to a zoo, then I highly recommend this as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just be aware of what’s offered and you won’t be disappointed.

Started in the morning from chengdu, visited the giant Buddha by using the boats. Chilled walkthrough in some hidden streets and end of the day harvested some green tea and learned how to cook and dry.

It was a really nice experience to see in detail how to win tea and talk directly to the farmer about their business and the learn about their life story.

Our Tourguide Sheldon was very young but shared a lot of facts during the hole trip. He was friendly and helpfully by everything. So we really enjoyed just to follow him and not to care about driving, paying or organizing something what can be easily a bit stressfully in china.

-I am only a bit disappointed that we still have 130 air pollution values. Thought will be better outside from Chengdu
