Nice open area to view the ocean and the high rise buildings. In the evening the buildings are lit up and a lot of people gather to see it.

Lots of information about how the brewery was founded, which is fascinating, and of course there was beer with the visit (always fantastic). Much of the information was in English which I appreciated though there’s no English audio tour. You should definitely take a look if you’re in Qingdao

We enjoyed our day at Laoshan but wish the weather was better. We hit a hazy day when we went so the views went in and out. Once at the top you can see most peaks but you might not get the coastal views you are hoping for due to haze and fog some days.

For us we started with Yangkou and hiked up and down in two hours and offered great ocean views and some very claustrophobic inducing walkways (including Mitian Cave). After this we went to Taiqing to take the cable car up (it was open in March 2021) and hiked down which took 2.5 hours. Taiqing had more Taoist areas including a couple of temples, tea gardens and a very uneven walking path. We enjoyed Yangkou more as it had better views in our opinion.

After we finished at Taiqing we realized that there is a bus system that goes throughout the Laoshan Scenic area that is included in the ticket price of 120 RMB. 120 RMB covers entrance at all gates for two days but the cable cars are extra. Taiqing cable car is 45 RMB one way and the rest are 40 RMB one way. Laoshan cola is available in this area but many of the shops were not well stocked when we were here in March. We found the food was not overly appealing so we would recommend you bring your own. Drinks were also double the price in this area.

We would recommend starting at the Laoshan Mountain Tourist Center (Laoshan Scenic Area - Tourist Services Center in Didi). The weather can change quite frequently in the area - we experienced warm weather in Yangkou but got a blast of cold mountain air in Taiqing. We would recommend layers and a good pair of shoes. We went in spring but my wife was constantly bundling up and adjusting layers.

We wish that better information was available online before we arrived in Qingdao so we hope the map we picked up helps you plan your trip! We felt like we missed out on Yufeng and will be back one day as that is where that one really good looking bridge is that we have seen in so many pictures of Laoshan.

The old street lamps, the tree-lined avenues, the silence, and that nostalgic feeling upon seeing so many old German homes, reminds me of my time in Germany. I visit this area almost every weekend. Improvements are being made yearly, and efforts to convert derelict homes into quaint cafes have been mostly successful.

Very nice church and typical European Square. But not much more. Luckily a German stall selling Bratwurst and cold beer made it worth the visit.

Our family spent almost half a day in this upscale large mall.
While our daughter got beautiful nails done (2hrs for 25€ with a Chinese Groupon voucher), my wife and myself had a delicious bubble tea and strolled through the unbelievable variety of shops. She mainly for clothes, me for electronics, cars (!) and food outlets/stores. Unbelievable choice of restaurants in this mall in all price ranges and cuisines.
Many people of all ages in this mall, so we also enjoyed the people watching. 🙂

A full on splurge about Qingdao’s fascinating 100 year history told in a very pretty stately home. The audio guide in English works well, though there’s a bit too much about the furniture for my liking and not enough about the governance - weirdly, the history of the sewer system was a real highlight. This will give you a great background to Qingdao and I reckon you should visit it early in your stay

This iconic bridge with the pavilion is very much appreciated by the locals. It was quite busy on the day we visited with some people tagging along their luggage, which I don't know where they were going. We, on the other hand, did not walk all the way out. Just enjoyed the view from the beach area.

A nice, easy walk, very informative. There is a lot to see and plenty of places for a snack or drink. There is also a shpping mall nearby.

This was a great part of Laoshan National Park but was a little out of the way from the rest of the park. We misunderstood and thought we could take a bus from the Laoshan Tourist Service Center but you actually have to take a seperate bus near Beijiushiu metro station to get up here. The hike was about intermediate and there were plenty of places to stop for breaks and refreshments.

We loved this section for the amount of shade throughout and the crystal clear water. It made for a very pleasant morning.

When we got to the fork near the entrance we decided to go left to avoid the crowds and our gamble paid off as the path was less inclined going this way. We find the path the other way was quite steep and we prefer to walk down from the heights.

Cost of a ticket into Laoshan is 210 yuan for three days to access all areas but you can also spend around 90 to get to specific ones. We think two days in Laoshan is perfect. There are cable cars in many of the sections and it is worthwhile asking attendants which ones are open if you need them. This section does not have a cable car. Plan to spend around 4 to 5 hours for this section including the busses to and from this area. I would recommend a good pair of shoes too. You may also want to bring a little bit of cash in case you need to buy refreshments mid snack as I could not got my WeChat pay working in some areas.

As a side note there were quite a few friendly feral cats in the area when we went in July 2021 including some kittens.

A great place to be. We walked to signal hill and the views of the city is great.

The coffee shop nearby is also very traditional and with an amazing views.

There is sufficient signs to take u to the top. Cannot ask for more.

Beautiful park with great views. Take the cable car ride. A wonderful way to spend a few hours in the city and you will meet many locals and their children.
