- Scott BBerkeley Springs, WV93 contributionsThe “Yellow River Scenic Spots” are an odd collection of attractions just north of Zhengzhou. First, you can ride a hovercraft out to a low muddy island in the river, where a group of elderly women nicely try to convince you to rent their ATV or go for a pony ride until it’s time to re-board the hovercraft for the return trip. The reason for the hovercraft soon became apparent; the river is loaded with sediment, which gives it it’s signature yellow-brown color but also creates numerous shallow areas and sandbars which would be otherwise challenging to navigate. Next, we saw the gigantic statues of Emperors Yan and Huang, sort of a Henan version of Mt. Rushmore. These are actually only about 12 years old; considering the huge plaza at the base, they appear to have been erected in order to create a site for patriotic rallies. We walked through the geologic museum and took the “cableway” up to a scenic overlook. The area feels more like a historic site, as the river and the surrounding fertile plains made this region the cradle of Chinese civilization, rather than a scenic spot.Written October 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GlennosZhengzhou, China4 contributionsA very interesting journey into Chinese History from the very beginnings of artifacts dating back to 4000 BC up to when the Henan province relinquished it’s capital status. Really well laid out chronologically and good English descriptions. Allocate about 90 mins.Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Cole B1 contributionI went to zhengzhou as a 12 year old boy from New Zealand wanting to check out the cool and diverse fish in this aquarium. We asked for directions at (one of) the multiple Mcdonald's in the area, the couple that we asked had obviously been to the aquarium before because they downright told us not to go and gave us directions to a different place. In the end we took a motorbike taxi to the aquarium. The line to enter the aquarium was pretty long but moved surprisingly quickly. Entering the aquarium i noticed multiple things such as the smell of urine, the source of the smell; a suspicious puddle on the floor and the crowd.
The crowd was thick and the tanks were not covered so anybody could put their hand in. Most of the fish had plenty of room to move. In the first corridor they had many kinds of fish. There was a fish bottle feeding place and the children could buy a milk bottle and feed the small fish. As we went upstairs we saw a stage surrounded by people and we found out that it was the sealion show but the crowd blocked just about all vision, the same could be said for the mermaid show.
The best part in my opinion was the Tunnel, it was a long glass tube with heaps of cool sea life swimming above it eg; Sand sharks, sting-rays, manta-rays, more rays and other cool fish I could not identify. They also had penguins, walruses and seals and turtles you could feed.
All in all Ii liked going but ZhengZhou itself is not that beautiful.Written October 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Happy R466 contributionsZhengzhou Shang Dynasty Ruins - an old world charm, reminder of the times of gone by in China. - Debjyoti DMumbai, India40 contributionsThe iconic buildings in Zhengzhou's business district look stunning when viewed against their reflections in the lake beside them, after sundown. - Irene (iFotoTravel) IsaacsonBuddina, Australia2,130 contributionsWe visited this museum before catching the bullet train to Suzhou. It had quite a spectacular entrance and inside, a similarly spectacular central atrium around which a spiraling staircase took you to the top or 3rd floor. The glass roof at the top of the atrium was rather awesome too.
Each floor housed different artifacts. There was very little educational signage in English so our tour guide translated some of the more notable exhibits for us. The history of many of the artifacts depicted at least 5000 years of Chinese history. Items included bronze, pottery or porcelain. Amazing.
As was an amazing circular cloud formation in the blue sky when we exited by lunchtime!Written October 31, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mick BTrafalgar, Australia269 contributionsThis temple appears to be off the tourist beaten track. It’s known as Zhengzhou Confucian Temple. - Doug CShenzhen, China291 contributionsI love this place. This is my favorite place in Zhengzhou to take a date.
Now, if you are going to ACTUALLY enjoy an amusement park, look elsewhere. But if you want to meander through a pretty place where you are pretty much alone, with great scenery, and a few things to do to break the ice... this is a great spot.Written August 9, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - mongchond12Greater Melbourne, Australia13 contributionsyou will find a great variety of restaurants ranging from Chinese, to Korean, Thai etc. Many brand names, mostly affordable brands. - GotTheWorldOnAStringNew York City, New York17 contributionsStaying nearby at the Novotel Zhenghou, the "G BOX" building was a fairly quick walk. So I thought I would take off on a stroll to see this "Wetlands Project." As with most public areas in China, I was rather impressed! For a rather large city, the park surrounding the tower and theatre complex was quite relaxed and enjoyable. Not too many out and about the day I was there. The tower building is more impressive at night, when more people show up with their children and loved ones to stroll and sit about.
As with many buildings in Chongqing and Shanghai the facade is covered with lights. Occasionally a screen lights up and shafts of light shoot outwards in a rather impressive fashion. When being a bit less impressive with its light show, it is still lovely to watch. The gold lights turn to a more white color until 10:00 when the entire thing shuts off like a golden checker board section by section. Still not sure why everything in China goes dark at 10PM, but it's true of Zhengzhou, as well.
The lake is lovely with lots of paddle boats, motor boats and pontoons to rent. There is even a huge fun blow up something or other for kids to play in for a fee. (Think a balloon like hamster wheel.) There's even a larger one -- perhaps for big kids like me?
On the ground level and waterfront of the “G Box”/Marriott Hotel there is a Starbucks, Burger King, jazz/pop club and a few other restaurants to enjoy no matter what time of the day.Written July 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
