The fort is an uphill hike away from town and is difficult to find, but it was a fun 30 minute adventure. None of the history is written in English, and it looks as though there are repairs currently, loosing some of the old, rustic charm.

    Wonderful place!
I felt like I was walking in an ancient chinese street that I often saw in TV. Tranquil and peaceful. Got some beautiful photos on the river.
The food were varied, too. It looked mouth-watering, but the taste might not suit me well.

However, the locals here can speak just a little English so quite hard to communicate. Learn some basic Mandarin in advance!

Xin An or Nantou as its better known contains the oldest parts of SZ. Its a wonderful change from the modern city that surrounds it. great to walk around and see local life and offers some great photographs.

Indulge in some great local snacks too.

Has nantou bus stop near, or can be walked to from Daxin metro station.

Xianhu is very easy to reach by bus but best to avoid it at the weekends the place is crowded. Great place to explore with children quite educational.
