Impressive temple and history. Recommended for tour of Angkor. But did not like the plastic bridge over the moat

Half ruined temple at Angkor area, Famous for trees which have grown in and through the temple walls.

The Angkor Archaeological Park is quite simply one of the best places I have been to. So many fascinating sites to look at. Exploring to do. The beaten track to go off. The entry ticket is amazingly good value, and ensures the maintenance of the Park, as well as facilities which support visitors, such as the Restrooms which are near all of the more-visited temples.

It so so amazing to see the great work which has been done by many dedicated people over the years to ensure that the Park can be visited.

I look forward to it's continued preservation.

    What an amazing project.

Such intelligent rats sniffing out land mines and helping to clear the land making it safe for Cambodia people.

The tour was brilliant. Explained well in perfect English and with a great demonstration too.

There is a little shop at the end but no hard sell.

Every little bit helps though and even just visiting the project helps the staff continue to do the valuable work that goes on here.

    We loved it.

This temple is just up from Bayon Temple, where this temple adjoins the southern enclosure of the Royal Palace. Some climbing of staircases, which provide some great views of the complex and surrounds. This temple is part of the Angkor Thom complex of temples! Baphuon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King are all in one sequence, adjacent to each other and all of these can be done just by walking from one to the next as we did.

The side adjoining the Terrace of the Elephants is the East side. On the western side, the retaining wall of the second level was fashioned into a reclining Buddha 60m in length. Walk the entire perimeter to reach the other side to see it. It's in open-air, so you only have to enter the complex and not the monument, though you do have to climb a ton of stairs. The Reclining Buddha, though huge, is not in great shape, the lower half is totally gone and you have to really use your imagination to make out the features of the remaining top half. You wouldn't even notice it exists unless you really know what you are looking at.

Steep stairways lead to its upper terrace and to awesome views of "Angkor Thom", as well as of part of "Angkor Archaelogical Park" but climbing up may be quite difficult and physically demanding.

Baphuon is approached by a 200m elevated walkway. Clamber under the elevated causeway leading to Baphuon for an incredible view of the hundreds of pillars supporting it.

There aren't as many carvings in this temple.

We had a three day temple trip. Mr. Seng arrange us 2 days tuk tuk and 1 day car service. Mr. Pich is our tuk tuk driver. He is very friendly and kind. We learned some knowledge about the temples from him. He is always on time and provides cool water for us. Mr. Seng took us outside the city and showed us Banteay Srei, Beng Mealea, etc. It is also very nice to talk with him and understand more about this country. Indeed, this trip was great and affordable. We highly recommend him as your Siem Reap driver.

I had a wonderful time on my two hour riding session. I am a novice rider and so feel around and on horses. The stables were really nice, the horses were well taken care of and I was very impressed by how well mannered my horse was. I've been on many trail rides before and you frequently get an unresponsive horse that doesn't do anything but follow. The horse I was given to ride was beautifully groomed, very well mannered and responded to commands, was eager to go to trot. I was also impressed by how well trained the horse were not to be afraid of things like motorcycles, cars, cows, etc. (which they have to be I guess, but very different from the horses at home). I was very impressed as this horse was even more well behaved than the horses I ride at my riding school at home, lol.

Cambodia has been deeply affected by the lack of tourism during the pandemic, and my guide told me the owner had to sell many of his horses because there were no customers. I was the only customer of the day, so I had a private tour with my guide, whose name I've forgotten, but he was really great! He was very attentive and kind. There wasn't much tour guiding but that wasn't really the point I think. There were some pretty big rains prior to the day I was riding including the day before so there was a lot of flooding, which was interesting to see! We had to ride through about 2 feet of flooded trail, and the horses took that in stride. It was quite fun.

We rode through the village and people looked on with curiosity, even videoing us on their iphones haha. We then rode through rice paddies which was fun because I've never seen them up close. My guide was so nice, when I said I'd never seen it and was curious to see dried rice that was nearer to harvest, my guide even ran through wet fields getting his shoes wet to bring me some rice grains to see what it was like! We stopped at the end of the hour to give the horses time to rest and eat, and then returned back home. There were also water buffalo and cows along the way to see.

It was really great how geared towards my ability it was. I mentioned that the horse was very well behaved and well suited to my ability level. And we got to trot many times during the hack which was also a lot of fun. The one time we had to cross a busy street in the beginning of the ride, the stables had a man on a motorcycle who stopped traffic for us to pass and ride in front of us for safety. On or way home, the man on the motorcycle was waiting for us and escorted us back through that busy street. The horses were cooled down with water immediately after the ride.

Don't forget to bring cash, and pristine US dollars only. They don't accept credit card, and in Cambodia more generally they won't accept US dollars that are even the slightest bit ripped or too worn.

Also, if you have the foresight to plan this activity before the trip, bring long pants otherwise you'll end up with pretty bad chafing burns from the stirrups!

I had such a wonderful experience this morning with a sunrise yoga class and massage. The class was great and the setting incredible - so special to practice with the sun rising. The massage afterwards was also wonderful. I was very well cared for from beginning to end, I am so glad I got to have this unique experience while in Siem Reap.

Golden Temple Boutique Hotel organised David to be our guide for the day to do the Short temple tour including Angkor Wat. David was brilliant. We learnt so much about not only the Khmer empire and each temple but about Cambodian life too. He brought the whole thing alive for us. It was fascinating and David was so kind and funny too. Such an amazing immersion in these incredible ancient kingdoms.

Very happy to use Mr. Shafie 's tuktuk service during the holidays in Siem Reap. Mr. Shafie is very friendly and kind. I booked his service for 1 day Small Circle Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Tom Raider Temples at a very affordable rate. He understands a lot about the place of interests that we visit and he explained to us before we entered each attractions
He also provided us with cold water everytime we finished visiting one object What a great service The tuktuk is very clean and comfortable. Thank you Mr Shafie for your riding and guiding.

Had a really great tour with Muen! Initially went for the half day countryside tour which was brilliant, saw so many things I wouldn’t have seen otherwise (local market out of central Siem Reap, Bayon Reservoir, noodle and sticky rice making, weaving). It was really nice to interact with locals and it felt as if the company gives back to the community by giving a small cut of the tour fee to the people you call in to meet. Muen also kindly extended the tour for me, as I was the only one booked on my tour so I arranged to pay more for some temples and a jungle ride back as well, which was brilliant. Would highly recommend- thanks for a great tour ☺️

Did the Explorer Tour with five of my mates. Each of us had our own ATV and it was a real blast. ATVs were well maintained and safe - and definitely felt powerful enough to give you a bit of a rush.

We got to experience some driving on the roads - under very close guidance from our excellent guide. Heading off the main roads, we went through the countryside, and it really felt like we were seeing a genuine slice of village life. It was good fun blasting past water buffalo, cows and lots of kids running out to wave.

We got to do a muddy road section - which was just unbelievable good fun. We all got nice and muddy, and the more brave of us got some nice slipping and sliding done on the track. It was great that our rear guide could support the slower members of the group, while the front guide supported the people that wanted a bit more adrenaline!

No real downsides to the tour. The standard itinerary does include buying some treats for village kids from a local store and handing them out. We decided to go ahead with it, given the circumstances, but if it's not your thing or you've got an issue with that, I'd suggest letting the company know when you book. They were really flexible in telling us what attractions were available, and we were able to say yes or no, which was nice.

Highly recommend the tour - really good fun!

Cambodia though poor has soo much to offer. The people are very friendly. Our visit to Angkor Wat was really an amazing experience. Never have I seen such grandeur in the temples unearthed from under huge trees.
