I realize this temple has the famous connection to the tomb raider movie and is normally really crowded, so we weren't expecting to like it very much. We came in the east entrance and it was really quiet, almost no one there. We got to explore and enjoy the temple. Once we reached the parts where nature has twined with the temple we came across loads of people. It was still an amazing sight to see and the trees are so large it does take your breath away. So worth getting the timing right to avoid the masses and really enjoy this.

From its beautiful symmetry to its detailed ornamentation, this temple is a stunning example of symmetrical design. I was blown away by the intricate carvings and sculptures that adorn the walls and pillars. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the temple is a perfect representation of the Khmer culture. Every corner of the temple is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is truly magical. If you ever find yourself in Cambodia, then a visit to Banteay Srei is a must!

We were so impressed by the team of people & rats taking risks to make Cambodia safer for everyone that we visited twice.
Some of the information is a bit too heavy for a 6-year old but you can skip the detailed info-tour & watch the rats in action.
The highlight? Being able to hold one of the hero rats in your arms & on your lap. They are so gentle & so intelligent.

This temple was really fascinating. Dedicated to the father of the King and doesn't have a lot of intricate carvings on the walls A lot of heads missing which is sad and this temple doesn't look as restored as some others, but well worth a look. Has a sound chamber which was unexpected. A guard here assisted with a special light photo which I though was a scam. But it does look like you are holding a ball of light in your hand when there was nothing there.

Daniel was a great guide. We started out with a sunrise visit to the iconic Angkorian temples, and Daniel was super helpful in answering the barrage of questions I had. The next day he took us to the villages and markets on gargantuan Tonle lake as well as the national museum. All of which I would highly recommend.
On a final note, when we visited Siem Reap, the temperatures were in the mid to upper 30s. Hit as balls, so to speak, and Daniel came equipped with cold water and cold towels to offset the sweltering temperatures.
For those travelling to Siem Reap in the future, I recommend visiting the national museum prior to visiting the temples themselves. It might help contextualize some of the Hindu and Buddhist engravings that cover the exterior and interior of the breathtaking temples.

So glad that we were told about this place on our last night. Highly recommend this to all travellers to Cambodia who are looking for an opportunity to support local artisans and local workers.

We highly recommend Seng. He is very friendly and took us to all of the temples and Kulen Waterfall over 3 days and then drove us to Phnom Phen. His car is very comfortable and his English is good. Thank you Seng for an enjoyable few days

Visiting The Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity provides an opportunity to learn about the important efforts to not rehabilitate animals that has been rescued from the illegal animal/pet trade market, but also to protect Cambodia's wildlife thus advancing and protecting the biodiversity of our planet. Visiting the centre also provides an opportunity to visit temples (such as Banteay Srei) that are often overlooked in the standard temple circuit.

Beautiful butterfly center, lots of butterflies and flowers to observe. Got 20min tour by Richard, was very informative, we got to see the whole lifecycle of the butterfly.
Entry 6 dollar. Special deal incl admission, drink and meal costs 9 dollar. Kids cheaper.
Whole we made the guided tour our tasty food was prepared. Nice shaded area with fan to sit and eat and drink in the garden itself with butterflies flying around. Nice for about 1-2h. Recommened!

The detail to the elephants was quite incredible. Looks well restored and easy to find in Angkor thom after Bayon temple. Well worth a stop to have a look around.

We were coming around 3 p.m. as last temple in our small circuit list. Having rented Tuk Tuk for whole day was definitely good idea 👍. Anyhow we walked more than 10km and added another 20km on small vehicle. Temple was almost empty, few people. I was already tired after seeing so many temples since morning. Each one is unique and different

Different to other nearby temples, being laid out around reflecting pools. With a central tower.

You can't walk the full way around. A little under half the path around the pools is closed temporarily. This doesn't detract from the site.

Originally, there were four sculptures in the lake. Only one, a horse, remains.

The terrace is well worth a visit in conjunction with the Elephant wall but it will probably only take 10 minutes or so to take the obligatory photo.

Kampong Phluk is a great place to be if you want to see the culture and experience the daily life of the local people. We started from Siem Reap post lunch and arrived here by 4 pm.

    Few thoughts:
    1. Carry a mask and sunglass with you since it is dusty in the day and a lot of bugs at night
    2. If you have a trusted tuk tuk driver, take him along in the boat
    3. Avoid the small boat if you don't wanna be scammed

There are 2 types of boat ride, one which takes you through the river to the lake for the sunset. This one costs $20 per person.

There's another boat ride (operated by locals) that takes you into the interiors of the village from a small jetty where the big boat leaves you. This costs $5 per person. You need to pay for both of them at the gate.

Here comes the SCAM ALERT! The smaller boat will take you through the mangroves and stop at a floating market and WILL NOT MOVE until you buy something for them (YES! for the boat man/woman) or the other villagers. And sure enough, they are overpriced! You can buy food/drinks or stationary items that you can distribute amongst the kids in the village. This was the only negative experience we had here.

Back on to the bigger boat, we were taken into the lake and we sat there for about an hour to experience the sunset which is a great one!

When you first see the admission price it's a bit of a shock. $ 15 pp for adults and $ 7.50 pp for kids. It looked interesting for fun with our 7 year old grandson, and it was!!! It is unique amazing, lots of fun and well worth the price when you see what its taken to create this attraction. It's incredibly designed 3-D trick art, when you take someones picture it really looks like they are part of the scene. Whether balancing on a rickety bridge Indiana Jones style, being attacked by a killer shark, or driving in a chariot race, or just strolling through Angkor in the snow, it is an amazing experience. This a good place to make it up to your kids for dragging them around old temples. It's about 4 km from town, but well worth the trip. The whole visit takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. There is also an amazing light show. Our grandson loved the whole experience and my wife loved taking pictures. Be forewarned, when you arrive the place looks dark and inactive, buts its not, just go on in. They were closed for a while during COVID and are just trying to get up and running again.
