I booked the Full Day Tour of Kompong Phluk, Tonle Sap Lake. It included pick-up at the hotel, car drive to where the boats are, boat to Chong Khneas and most importantly Kompong Phluk.
The guide, Mony, picked me up at the correct time, he was good in English if you compare to many other guides in Asia. Mony did during the whole trip explain everything that I saw, and he was friendly and helpful.
I mostly booked to trip because I wanted to get som great photos of the villages. The boats that are traveling with are a bit worn down, and so it Taraboat, so don't expect them to be in topnotch condition, but they are working as expected and they will take you to the different places.
The first stop, Chong Khneas is a very touristy place. Lots of children who hold up snakes and says "give me one dollar, give me one dollar". Sounds like a mantra. You will however get some great shots in Chong Khneas if you look for angles where you don't have other tourists in your view.
The next stop, Kompong Phluk was superb! I was the only tourist there when I arrived, and people here were just doing their normal stuff. No one in the village begged for money, and no one seemed to care about me walking there. Just like I want it!
Do however not that a few people will try to sell you some minor items when the boat arrives to Kompong Phluk.
The final stop before lunch was the flooded forest in Kompong Phluk. A really odd view, and a nice short trip, but not something that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Lunch was on the Taraboat back in Chong Khneas. Taraboat is also a bit worn down, but the food was very good.
I can really recommend this trip if you like photography or if you want to see how people live in the fishing villages.
One of the things that impressed me most was however that Taraboat didn't cancel the trip even though I was the only one who had booked it. That's what I call service!
