This temple is very similar to Prea Khan but smaller,it is unrestored and has a lovely atmosphere, being unrestored there are several large trees groing in and near the walls. If you walk all the way through from the road till you come out the other side past the big tree with butress roots you can sit in the peace and quiet away from the noise of the road and listen to the sounds of the birds and animals in the jungle,it is so peacefull as most tourists dont go that far through. This was my second favourite temple of the tour and I came back the next day also.Afterwards its worth going over the road at the entrance to view the large reservoir at Srah Srang. This is also a good sunrise spot as opposed to the very busy Ankor Wat.

The area consists of a central temple with four wings, preceded by a hall and also accompanied by two libraries, the southern one remarkably well preserved.

The eastern causeway and entrance are the most impressive while on the western side you can walk for around 500m along the dirt trail and see remnants of a stone causeway that leads to the edge of the now dry East Baray.

The highlights of the site are numerous and include the well-preserved bas-reliefs on the frontons, tympanum/pediments, and lintels plus the remains of the ancient sarcophagus. Though I will admit that they are not as extensive as in other temples.

There is parking at the front of the site at the eastern entrance along with toilets and drink stalls.

A visit here can be combined with a trip to Banteay Srei.

After visiting Angkor main temple for few hours which almost took more than 2 to 3 km distance walk which no one can avoid (because of the far away parking area due to the canal front of the Angkor wat temple), next started to visit Bayon temple in Angkor thom area.

The entry point to Angkor thom area is the Angkor south gate and the surrounding canal. Just before and very close to it is the Baksei Chamkrong temple. Most probably every tourist will stop in this area. However, this area was reached in just 5-7 minutes ride from Angkor wat. So can have quick look/visit at the temple without entering inside to save time, as the next big attraction Bayon temple needed a lot of walk again. Decide spending time at Baksei Chamkrong temple in case if the trip is for one day only. If the Angkor trip is for more than one day, then can spend some time at Baksei Chamkrong temple.

As for very humble tourist, it is not top attraction as person diving deep into history. We stopped there as it was on the list for small tour circuit after seeing Bayon, rather appreciated lunch break before visiting both of small temples

Near the site of Neak Pean, there are two small temples Prasat Prei and Banteay Prei which are away from the road and therefore very little visited. They even seem completely abandoned,
Prasat Prei. it is just a small Gopura (entrance tower) which balances on a small mound of earth, which literally fall into ruin. . The tour lasts no more than 5 minutes as there is not much to see.
Banteay Prei, the "Citadel of the Forest", is a small Buddhist temple late 12th, early 13th-century, it 's a forgotten temple of Angkor. . It was built during the reign of Jayavarman VII and is stylistically similar to nearby Preah Khan and Ta Prohm temples. The temple is not very large. justf a few tens of square meters, where vegetation has fully recovered. The perimeter gallery through which you must pass is inaccessible by places as soil and stones has accumulated inside. You must get down to your hands and knees to visit. After making your way between the stones, you come to a small square, completely hidden from outside view. There are some fragile buildings with very beautiful bas reliefs, and vegetation that grows everywhere.
This temple is probably the wildest in the whole city of Angkor, you can visit it without meeting anyone
To do If you have adventurous spirit.

My family of four adults contracted Sophorn for three days in Siem Reap. He made our visit to Angkor Wat and the Siem Reap area delightful. Sophorn always had suggestions of wats, trips, and restaurants, excellent recommendations. Since we could not read Cambodian nor speak very much, his services were invaluable. He adjusted to our schedules and needs, some days picking us up at 4:45 AM for the sunrise and returning us home after 10 PM after the circus. He was always cheerful and bright. He also checked with us to ensure he was meeting our wishes and understood correctly our requests. Sophorn was fabulous! អរគុណច្រើន!
