What travelers are saying
- Steven PhichCambodia510 contributionsBanteay Samre is a hidden gem within the Angkor Archaeological Park, offering visitors the chance to explore the magnificent history and architecture of the Khmer Empire. This temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, showcases stunning sandstone carvings and intricate bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The peaceful atmosphere and lack of crowds make it a perfect spot for quiet contemplation and reflection. History buffs and architecture enthusiasts will appreciate the beauty and significance of Banteay Samre, a must-visit destination in Cambodia. Don't miss the opportunity to capture the beauty of this lesser-known temple with your camera.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeepakSuva, Fiji404 contributionsJust on the opposite side of the road from Sra Srang, this temple is not visited that much (or maybe we we vsited when it was not peak season) so it's a more peaceful visit without having everyone around you.
A smaller site but still can admire it's architecture.Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The entry point to Angkor thom area is the Angkor south gate and the surrounding canal. Just before and very close to it is the Baksei Chamkrong temple. Most probably every tourist will stop in this area. However, this area was reached in just 5-7 minutes ride from Angkor wat. So can have quick look/visit at the temple without entering inside to save time, as the next big attraction Bayon temple needed a lot of walk again. Decide spending time at Baksei Chamkrong temple in case if the trip is for one day only. If the Angkor trip is for more than one day, then can spend some time at Baksei Chamkrong temple.Written November 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We stopped there as it was on the list for small tour circuit after seeing Bayon, rather appreciated lunch break before visiting both of small templesWritten May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They even seem completely abandoned,
Prasat Prei. it is just a small Gopura (entrance tower) which balances on a small mound of earth, which literally fall into ruin. . The tour lasts no more than 5 minutes as there is not much to see.
Banteay Prei, the "Citadel of the Forest", is a small Buddhist temple late 12th, early 13th-century, it 's a forgotten temple of Angkor. . It was built during the reign of Jayavarman VII and is stylistically similar to nearby Preah Khan and Ta Prohm temples. The temple is not very large. justf a few tens of square meters, where vegetation has fully recovered. The perimeter gallery through which you must pass is inaccessible by places as soil and stones has accumulated inside. You must get down to your hands and knees to visit. After making your way between the stones, you come to a small square, completely hidden from outside view. There are some fragile buildings with very beautiful bas reliefs, and vegetation that grows everywhere.
This temple is probably the wildest in the whole city of Angkor, you can visit it without meeting anyone
To do If you have adventurous spirit.Written December 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - CroeselRoeland Park, KS90 contributionsMy family of four adults contracted Sophorn for three days in Siem Reap. He made our visit to Angkor Wat and the Siem Reap area delightful. Sophorn always had suggestions of wats, trips, and restaurants, excellent recommendations. Since we could not read Cambodian nor speak very much, his services were invaluable. He adjusted to our schedules and needs, some days picking us up at 4:45 AM for the sunrise and returning us home after 10 PM after the circus. He was always cheerful and bright. He also checked with us to ensure he was meeting our wishes and understood correctly our requests. Sophorn was fabulous! អរគុណច្រើន!Written December 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
