- CupcardriverSarasota, FL147 contributionsWe divided to experience the Burj Al Arab as our stopover point on our way to South Africa for our safari.
This property is everything you could dream of and the staff makes it reality.
We had a two story suite with a butler at our beck and call, however it’s not our style so unofficially we gave him the night off.
The architecture is amazing and the property is everything you’d expect from a 7 star hotel.
We did have the pleasure dining in the restaurant with the giant salt tank. It was as excellent as you’d expect.
Ironically, 8,000 miles from home and we meet a local restauranteur from our hometown. Small world.Written September 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN3,149 contributionsUnlike most of modern Dubai, visiting the Dubai Creek is like stepping back in time. On one side of the river is the historic Al Seef and Al Fahidi neighborhoods. You can then ride on a traditional abra across the river to the Old Souk. The cost is 1 Dirham. Make sure you get on the right abra. You want the Dierra Old Souk-Bur Dubai abra which leaves from its own pier.Written July 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's an amazing sight to see! You go into a lift one side, and up the top, you can walk over the glass floor or choose to walk either side of this if this is something you wouldn't want to do! The views from up here are incredible! You then go down the lift the other side.Written September 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN3,149 contributionsUnlike most of the modern city of Dubai, riding an Abra across the Dubai Creek is like stepping back in time and experiencing the Dubai of old. The Abra is the traditional mode of transport in the region and is still used by locals for public transportation. However, for a tourist, it is a memorable experience and provides beautiful views along Dubai Creek. The cost is 1 Dirham, cash only. You can board at the Bur Dubai near the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood and cross to explore the authentic Gold and Spice Souks. There are several different Abra routes but you want to take the Diera Old Souk-Bur Dubai. You can find the pier by looking on googlemaps for this route,Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
