Beautyful cathedral, really impressive, a must see if you are visiting Sibiu. They also have a book store near the church.

The cathedral is suitably large and imposing with a super 14c painting to the left if the high altar and a sobering WW1 memorial under the massive organ; where two brothers died an battle (and there were many) they are listed together in death as in life.
The tower has been restored so the climb, while steep, is on decent steel and wood staircases. Good views from the top (though you can't get outside) and of the massive bells.

Recently renovated synagogue, just a 5 mins walk from the center of Sibiu. There is an office just behind the synagogue that will be very happy to give you a tour. Nice architecture, great acustics.

Built in the XVth century as a catholic church - used as a barn after the "Reform" of Martin Luther (majority of the Saxons in Transylvania moved away from the Catholica church and turned protestant after the Reform of Luther) it become a Franciscan church and monastery after 1718 - when it was also refurbished in the baroque style that can be seen today.
Overall the experience is dimmed since I did not find it open - like the vast majority of churches I visit , the historical monuments tend to have their doors closed.
Maybe you get better luck when you walk on Selarilor street in Sibiu.

Cute little church near the main old city square and in the same street as the Ortodox Cathedral. Nice architecture and colour.
