What travelers are saying
- travelitaMinnesotaBurnsville, MN140 contributionsAbsolutely amazing! We visited in November, very off season! We called and they basically said sure , come on in we’re here working anyway. We had such great wine, with explanation of the wine, the story behind the family vineyard and lots of perspective on the Croatian culture. You can choose a 3 or 6 wine tasting. A highlight of our trip for sure. I’d say a MUST DO when in Šibenik. We are having dinner now and ordered a bottle of RAK marastina. So good!!Written November 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jozef OBrussels, Belgium192 contributionsA very nice cathedral. Was undergoing some restauration so part of the ceiling wasn't visible. A lot of information available at the museum in another part of town.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CatharineBOttawa, Canada1,117 contributionsThe Town hall in Šibenik is situated on the medieval central town square (the Square of the Republic of Croatia), right in front of the Cathedral’s Door of Lions. This is a very harmonious Renaissance building erected between 1533 and 1546.
It was severely damaged by Allied bombing in 1943 and has been largely rebuilt.
This is a two storey structure, the ground floor is an open portico with nine arches that today houses the Vijećnica cafe-restaurant. The upper floors is a loggia with a balustrade.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The boat (we took the 10:00 AM one) allows you to explore the channel between the Sibenik bay and the fort. The fort itself is OK but mostly an empty shell. The very good audioguide makes up for everything.Written August 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barbara ZDubrovnik, Croatia6 contributionsWe booked a tasting quite off-season (end of November) and on top of that it was a Friday afternoon; nevertheless, we were greeted very warmly by the owner, we first visited the cellar and then had the tasting. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, he gave us all the information we were interested in and more, alongside a very nice presentation of the area that we didn't know that much about initially. The wines included in the tasting that we opted for were all excellent, we also had a platter of local products to accompany everthing and it was just the best decision, more than enough and very tasty. We chose this winery because of their Babić wine which I discovered very recently and I love it! All in all, it was an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys drinking and eating well:)Written November 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tomáš TomekKladno, Czech Republic1,075 contributionsThis small fort is a 10-minute walk from the second fort. It has been nicely renovated with facilities for families, with great refreshments.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CatharineBOttawa, Canada1,117 contributionsChurch of St. John was initially called the church of St. Trinity and is located in one of the most important city squares. In the middle of the 15th century, the church accepted the fraternity of St. John, and after that the church was called the church of St. John.
This venerable 14th-century lump of stone is famous for the balustrade staircase on the street-facing side, said to be the work of the famous Šibenik builder Ivan Pribislavić. Sprouting from the upper part of the balustrade are a series of angels’ heads in relief form, while a severely eroded lion stands guard at the bottom.
The church’s four-storey belfry boasts the town’s oldest mechanical clock, the dial has Roman numerals and a single (hour) hand, which was built into it after being brought from Drniš during the Cretan War. The dome of the bell-tower was removed in 1862 after a strong earthquake.
At the foot of the bell tower there is a renaissance window, the work of Niccolò di Giovanni Fiorentino, and above the window is a relief of a lamb, under which there is an angel with open wings, a masterpiece of Dalmatian Renaissance.
The church was closed during our visit.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was enough time to swim and relax. The boat was super and there was plenty to drink. It was our best day of the holiday, the children thought so too. Thanks Ivan!Written August 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paula B1 contributionThe best part of this trip was our guide Igor. He was a wealth of information in both the history and the food traditions of the area. The food was delicious at each stop and I particularly like homemade liqueurs and the desserts!Written May 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
