Lovely place, very reminiscent of York with the narrow streets. People very obliging, eager to please. We went to city market, looked at the crafts stall, all items handmade by the vendor. When she realised I did the same crafts I was offered a number of the items for half price. These people are as friendly as the Dutch who were top of my list before, well worth meeting up with. We came away feeling very welcomed. I'm going to Croatia this year, who knows, we may go back.

Luscious and historical island 15 mins boat journey from Dubrovnik old town. A good walk around the island visiting the gardens, monastery and fort. Not too hot in March. There’s also a replica Iron Throne to visit

Very impressive views of Old City and surrounding area. Very busy, and very expensive. Cafe/restaurant and war museum at top.

This is the Main Street down the city center, lined mostly with souvenir shops and a few restaurants. Honestly it gets so packed with tourists and tour groups, it is really just a way to get from one end to the other. Venture off any of the side alleyways to discover more charm, sidewalk cafes and less crowds.

Walk up and down the long zigzag path or take the cable car up and down. You can also drive to the top. The local bus stops fairly close by (some walking required). Spectacular views of the old town, the sea and the mountains.

We visited the Fortress as part of our Game of Thrones tour. There are stairs to climb to access the fort (like most things in Dubrovnik). I think touring the fortress would have been pretty boring without a tour guide, at least he provided some history and mostly where scenes for Game of Thrones were filmed. The views of the city walls and old town are just stunning from the fort, so that is worth the visit. The view at the harbor between the old town and the fortress is beautiful as well and a well know port scene in GOT. The Fortress is included in the Dubrovnik pass if you are using it.

The vast residental area around the beautiful bay is more suited for an enjoyable stay than crowded Old Town. Several buslines travel there in 10 minutes and also connect with the airport bus stop at Ploce. A large Tommy supermarket in the center serves tourists staying in the many rentals. All accomodation is expensive in Dubrovnik, the older Maestra group hotels by the beach are popular with European charter tours.

Beautiful island. One of three on our cruise around the islands. Unspoilt. Stunning. Beautiful clear water. Glad we went on this cruise.

This is the main entrance into the old city. The buses and taxis park outside in a large parking lot and disgorge the tourists, like us. You will find a stone bridge and then the stone gate. Can be very congested during the day when the number of tourists can be very large. This is where you will want to enter.

I thought this beach was beautiful (albeit not a sand beach, has large pebbles so bring shoes you can wear in the water). Crystal clear water, if you go early you get shade from the hillside behind.

Paid 18euro each for a sunbed, didn’t mind paying that but the man hiring umbrellas was really rude which took away from the experience. You need to walk down a long fairly steep flight of stairs.

Three picturesque islands of the Elaphite. Two of them have no vehicles & the third only a small number. The islands offer wonderful strolls along tracks through plantation and crystal clear swimming. There is not much else on the islands - just the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
We travelled with Adriatic explore, which offered a large roomy boat with a tasty lunch of fish or chicken.

Beautiful Island with sandy beach. Well worth a visit if you’re staying in Dubrovnik. Jadrolinija Ferry runs from Dubrovnik to the island several times per day at approx €10 return.

Knowing very little about the topic, we were not sure what to expect from this museum, particularly as most museums/exhibits in the Old Town have very little explanation or historical context given, which had been frustrating. We were greeted warmly and shown how to use the interactive exhibits.
Within minutes we were extremely glad we had attended - the history of Yugoslavia was explained step by step in a clear way, with fascinating insights into day-to-day life and multiple varied and nuanced viewpoints presented (one poignant area displays two films side-by-side: one interviewing the director of the Goli Otok prison island, and one interviewing an ex prisoner there).
By the end of the exhibition we had learnt so much about a part of history that is not often heard about, and were excited to learn more. We felt closer to the history of Croatia and would recommend this easily over any of the 'museums' in the Old Town. Well worth the trip, and we very much enjoyed how the museum shop and bar tied in to some of the items seen in the exhibits.

Certainly the best beach we found in the area, with fine gravel and beautiful clear water.
Limited facilities. There’s basic toilets and a small bar (not open in October) but apparently provides food and drink in season.
A bit unreal with the abandoned hotels in the background but the best we found.
