- Peter hirst2 contributionsLovely unspoilt area nearby trips on a boat both to cavtat and dubrovnik Not to touristy going back shortly we stopped in mliniWritten March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brooklet425Staunton, VA297 contributionsWe took a taxi to the top to visit the Homeland War Museum, and then we walked back down. It was a nice, enjoyable walk with beautiful views of the city. It's a well maintained path and if you're interested in religious attractions, the Stations of the Cross are displayed on the whole path. I wouldn't go out of my way to do this hike, but if you're looking for a great opportunity to photograph the city from above then it's a perfect place to do that.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SWH100Cardiff, UK1,086 contributionsVisited here as part of the three islands cruise. We had about 3 hours on this island and it wasn’t nearly long enough. When we arrived we paid for a golf buggy trip down to the beach, which was an adventure in itself. They are petrol ones and went pretty fast. We had an amazing few hours at the stunning beach before heading back to explore the harbour area. It is absolutely beautiful. I wished we had more time, but I loved every min of it.Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CatharineBOttawa, Canada1,117 contributionsA visit to the historic center of Dubrovnik would be incomplete without visiting the old port. Despite being excessively busy with tourist businesses, it still retains its beauty.
We walked along the underpass of the Bell Tower to reach Dubrovnik's Old Port. From here we could see fantastic views of the sea, St. John Fort, and the City Walls. The walkway that hugs the Old Port also has benches for visitors to sit down and enjoy.
Old Port Dubrovnik is located at the Eastern part of the City. The port is encompassed by two breakwaters. The breakwater Porporela in front of St. John fortress, (used as a bathing area at the base of the fortress) and the Kaše breakwater going perpendicular across the port bay.
In the time of the Dubrovnik Republic several forts protected the port as the economy of the Dubrovnik Republic was highly dependent on the quality of its ships as the easiest way to transport goods was over the sea, but today the port is a safe haven for the many private boats of local citizens.
Also, the regular boat line to Lokrum island departs from the Old Port, as well as the boat lines to Cavtat, Mlini, and various sightseeing boat tours.Written December 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We didn’t have too long here as we visited as part of the 3 island tour, so we decided to head to the beach to do some swimming and snorkelling. We spent most of the hour in the water as it was so beautiful. The water was so blue and so clear. We saw so many different types of fish and plenty of sea urchins, which was awesome. I had never seen them before. Would definitely visit again and spent more time exploring.Written October 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvette GShurlock Row, UK61 contributionsThree picturesque islands of the Elaphite. Two of them have no vehicles & the third only a small number. The islands offer wonderful strolls along tracks through plantation and crystal clear swimming. There is not much else on the islands - just the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
We travelled with Adriatic explore, which offered a large roomy boat with a tasty lunch of fish or chicken.Written July 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a bit over a 2km walk past the Old Town from the Harbour side. Stay to the right and follow road to end with old church. Go behind the church down path & you will find steps to this beach. We loved it so much we went 3 days in a row. Early Oct temp was perfect. Shaded until 10:30 when sun comes over mountain behind. Plastic lounge chairs were €15 each or bring a beach pad for the rocks. Reef shoes greatly recommended only due to rocks. Great restaurant until mid Oct with a bar and another bar on other side of beach. Food was fabulous as we sat in our swimmers with linen tablecloth. Toilets and change area also available. All this enjoyed with pristine water looking out to the Old Town of Dubrovnik in the distance. No disabled access. About 79 steps to get down & up again, but we’ll worth it.Written October 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SWH100Cardiff, UK1,086 contributionsThis was our second stop on our three islands tour, and I loved it. The harbour is so beautiful. The colour of the water was so blue. We spent a little time exploring and came across a local lady selling her home made alcohol. It was very good so we brought a few bottles. There was just time for a quick swim in the designated area and an ice cream before we hopped back on the boat. Lovely stop.Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FoodLover126London, UK36 contributionsAmazing animal sanctuary really caring about animals. We met a worker who was so passionate about her work, they gave us a free tour and explained about the place and history. Loved it. - PhilMaloneFootscray, Australia1,399 contributionsIf you are into exploring historical ruins then this is the place! They are free to explore at your own pace. There are no restrictions on your movement throughout these ruins at Kupari Beach, making it an unbelievable and exhilarating trip with it all left untouched since abandonment. It was sobering to think that the Yugoslav army used this site and people holidayed here in the years of the Yugoslav empire.
Apart from that it is a beautiful little beach with a wide expanse of sand - you can see why it was used as a holiday resort for the rich and famous during the old Yugoslav rule.Written December 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle FosterEngland, UK110 contributionsWe had heard that Sunj beach was the best sandy beach in Dubrovnik so decided to take a look. Having pre-booked our ferry tickets online we took a cab to the Ferry Port and caught the 9.50am ferry.
The sailing took about 45 minutes on a hot sunny day. Luckily some of the seating on the ferry was covered.
We disembarked ready to find the much publicised buggy taxi station which was "100m" from the jetty. Much to our dismay this was much more like 600m along the promenade and then a side turning that steadily inclined. Nonetheless the buggies were waiting and at 3EUR one way per adult it was well worth making the effort for, as we watched some visitors navigate the uneven path walking over the hill to Sunj Beach.
There are two cafes and clean toilets available.
One thing to note though, this is probably not a place for anyone with mobility issues to visit owing to the incline down to the beach, and the day we went, there were very few children in sight.
We thoroughly enjoyed our few hours on the beach and paddling in the sea, and we would recommend. The day we visited was very windy so parasols were not permitted however we were able to hire two loungers at a reasonable cost.Written September 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So a hassle if you just want to go for a just a drink
Prices were also pretty high and the menu is more for the evening then for a light linch.

You are literally inches away from others. You can rent an umbrella for 8 Euros, or go all out and spend a fortune for sun chairs and an umbrella. Resto-bar by the beach. Clear blue water as one would expect in Croatia.Written August 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gene R JSilver Spring, MD9,113 contributionsWe stopped at this popular 7 lake area totaling 341 acres on our trip from Split to Ploce. The recent rains have raised the level of its pristine fresh water above normal. It a pretty area for boating or paddle surfing in season.Written November 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
