We had a great time walking amongst the old high walls, drinking the fresh water from the fountains and learning about the varied and complicated history of this treasured city and former republic. - jawall24Avon Park, FL17 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Dubrovnik with Elvis. First, we went on the cable car and enjoyed fantastic views of the old and new towns. Elvis is a local and was very knowledgeable about the history and current situation in Dubrovnik. After the cable car, we did a walking tour of the old town. It is clean and beautiful in its simplicity. It was so eye-opening to hear about the war in the early 90's and what the town and country went through. After the walking tour, we walked the city walls by ourselves and got yet another perspective of the town. Vans picked us up, dropped us off in the old part of Dubrovnik, and brought us back. We were mainly outside of the tourist areas, so less crowded, but we also got to see some of the nicest spots in the city. We stopped at several restaurants. The food and drink were all very good. Goran was very knowledgable and entertaining. We were a group of 5 couples. All 10 of us felt this was the best stop of our entire 10-day cruise. She gave great advice as to where to eat and visit beyond the tour. - Life2TravelCharlotte, NC1,971 contributionsWe have booked Game of Throne tours in several places in Europe and couldn't miss the opportunity in Dubrovnik. Our tour guide was Robert, he was fun, enthusiastic and a great story teller for our small group. He was also very passionate about Croatia , so the tour wasn't just about Game of Thrones. Robert also happened to be an extra in several episodes of the show (with pictures to prove it) which added to the information and storytelling.
We started the tour outside the city walls near the harbor which was great because it included Fort Lovrijenac and hadn't seen much outside the walls. The tour was at a good pace and we saw many show filming locations. It was great to have the visual aids to see where you were and then what the scene actually looked like.
I could have done without the pictures with the props at the end, haha but it was only a few minutes and harmless, just trying to have some fun. Tour was interested, full of amazing views and details. Dubrovnik history is very interesting and walking through the city was very beautiful. Mihaela is very polite and friendly.
