My daughter and I first enjoyed shopping in this lovely space, seeing the work of a range of Guatemalan artists and artisans in jade, metal, fabric, and ceramic.

this jade shop also has a little museum exhibition to learn more about Guatemalan Jade (always fun to strike the stone!).
We then had the opportunity to tour the Museum and watch Jade being cut into jewelry size pieces.

Once you have explored the craft market go into the locals market next door, where you can easily get lost in the winding rows of shops from homewares to fish to shoes and jewelry!
You can find many local products - blankets, purses, clothing, wallets, scarves, shoes, souvenirs - in hundreds of individual stalls arranged in a somewhat organized maze.

It is a mix of shop and small museum of Guatemalan crafts as textiles, masks, pottery, wood carvings, jewelry, sacred images and religious items.
Prices are in US dollars so you know who shops here and you can avoid the conversion from quetzels which when we were here was appro Q7.5 to the dollar.

Just across a street from the street market, the artisans market has the same items but higher quality.
