Skadarlija is a neighborhood that embodies the bohemian spirit of Belgrade. Famous for its historical texture and cobblestone streets, Skadarlija is the heart of Belgrade’s art and entertainment scene. It has inspired many artists, writers and musicians.

Taking a walk in Skadarlija is like taking a nostalgic journey. Colorful cafes, restaurants and streets full of music await you. Moreover, you may also have the chance to taste traditional Serbian cuisine @velika.skadarlija 💃🏼

Street cats in Serbia are an integral part of the city. You are likely to encounter these cute friends in areas like Skadarlija. They are usually fed and cared for by locals, and many restaurants and cafes even provide them with food. In Skadarlija, it is common to see street cats roaming freely and adding color to the environment😻😍

This is one of the oldest parts of Belgrade, and in my opinion the most beautiful neiborhood in the city. There are a lot of restaurants and pubs.

This is the most characterful quarter of Belgrade. Prince Milos built his residence here which is the palace or Princess Ljubica. The quarter is small and with several cobblestone streets. It has many mansions with beautiful vies to the river. You will see the Kafana Question Mark?, the wonderful art-deco French Embassy, the lovely Kralja Petra street, and the elegant Kralja Petra school, the charming orthodox Cathedral of Saint Michael, and the Zadanska street which has very interesting restaurants and kafanas and a bohemian atmosphere.

If you are in relatively good shape and have energy, I suggest to walk and visit first the Kalemegdan fortress ideally in the afternoon (the fortress is just across the street) and then look for the Cathedral of Saint Michael which has a beautiful bell tower that you can see from the fortress. You will see the French embassy first; then look for and visit the church of Saint Michael and the palace of princess Ljubica. Finish with dinner or coffee in Kralja Petra or Zadanska. It is lovely quarter. It is ideal to visit the Stari Grad in a beautiful day with blue skies; the contrast of the colors of Stari Grad with the blue skies is phenomenal.
