What travelers are saying
- DavidOxford, UK1,469 contributionsAlthough I was only able to make a brief visit to this church, it is certainly impressive. Fascinating and ornate mosaics. Conveniently very near to the other Fortress church so you can catch both.Written September 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DavidOxford, UK1,469 contributionsNice murals on notable chandeliers made it ammunition make this church worth a visit. It's very near to the other prominent castle church so you can visit them both in succession.Written September 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vicky SilveAbbadia Lariana, Italy672 contributionsThis Orthodox cathedral is not as rich of decorations as other churches in Belgrade, but worths the visit too. As often in this city, this worship place is surrounded by a garden, in which there also is a little monument remembering the kids who lost their lives in the 1999 bombings.Written September 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vicky SilveAbbadia Lariana, Italy672 contributionsYou can easily recognize the belltower of this church dominating the skyline of Belgrade; this makes it one of the symbol of the Serbian capital city. But the interiors deserve a visit as well for the beauty of icons and frescoes. Not to miss the chandelier!Written September 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

This building is the administrative seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The building has been designed in the Serbo-Byzantine Style. The most interesting part of the building is the risalit, which has a square portico, a rounded tower behind and decorated with an elongated mosaic depicting John the Baptist, and behind this, the dome of the building. The risalit has been designed with each of the main sections recessed giving the impression of a series of stepped towers.Written June 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The inside is absolutely gorgeous, and there's an aura about this place. I highly recommend stopping by and getting the feel for it.Written August 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zlatan75MiticPozarevac, Serbia1,331 contributionsSt. Basil of Ostrog is located on Bezanijska kosa, in the municipality of Novi Beograd
This is the first church built in the New Belgrade after the Second World War. Construction started in 1996 and the church was consecrated in 2001. Relying on Christian tradition and the great achievements of the old Serbian builders, architect Mihajlo Mitrovic opted for a form of ancient Christian rotunda, accompanied by lower annexes and high bell tower on the west and trefoil altar apses in the east. Temple St. Basil of Ostrog represents a solid compositionally and artistically homogenous whole, achieved modern in design process. It was built enclosures admirers of the work of St. Basil of Ostrog.Written December 5, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Monastery was built in 14th century with financial help of Prince
Mihailo Obrenovic ,and preserves one of the most valuable collections of the Serbian icons .
Also Princess Ljubica his wife ,helped build the monastery ,so even today the monastery preserves her memory through so called Ljubicin konak._Ljubica,s residence.
The surroundings is gorgeous, peaceful and quite ,just a few
kilometers from busy city which gives you spiritual milieu .
You can take the bus,or tram from centre of Belgrade.
Must see event.Written September 9, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the actual state it is a sad reminder of missing because murdered community. It is near to the park where all local religions have their churches as here were thr waiting point of the Habsburg monarchy, a border. Houses and streets around are in a state as if the Monarchy still exists -- picturesque slef-demolition. 10 mn walk from the market, across the main street, does worth the visit -- that is what my 5 stars want to say.Written August 27, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The site is well appointed with free parking although you do have to walk about 100 metres up a slight incline . Free entry . Using the restroom is an experience .Written October 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
