An oasis of calm and peacefulness in Old Town.

Stavropoleos Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery and though it's small, it's architecture, murals and stonework is a testament to Byzantine tradition.

The courtyard is beautiful and peaceful and must be the place to be during the spring/summer.

The interior is decorative, calm, and peaceful, a refuge if you want to escape from the crowds and busy streets of Bucharest.

We did not go inside but we did enjoy a free walk around the grounds. Very easy to get to and very helpful security.
We visited the national museum of contemporary art afterwards, which is on another wing of the palace.
    Very pretty.

We stayed in Old Town for our trip, the architecture is beautiful with a lot of restaurants / bars within walking distance. A lot of homeless though, they often slept in the doorway of our rented apartment.

A nice spot to learn some Romanian history and how they've come to be!
A lot of houses from around the regions of Romania with fully furnished interiors. Most houses you cannot go in.
Be wary that this is a cash only venue, 30 lei was entry. Also it is a lot of walking! Bring snacks and a drink and plenty of time.

Cool building in neoclassical style. You can visit inside for a small fee. Located in the most elegant part of the city, you better not to miss.

Lipscani is one of the main thoroughfares through Bucharest's Old Town district. As you'd expect, it's full of places to eat and drink, mixed in with shops, and the occasional church or civic building. The streets are mostly cobbled. It's a bit touristy, but very nice all the same.

It’s not a mansion, a little palace. Worth seeing to analyse the era. The female guide was very good, ask questions. There is a nice cafe in the garden and a little shop.

A very interesting museum, although it’s quite small, you can spend hours in there. There is a huge anmount of information about the period and also the interactive aspects are very interesting. I learned more here than in the National Museum of Romanian History, so definitely a must see in Bucharest.
