What travelers are saying
- rocio qRiverside, CA6 contributionsWe went this past january to gamarra. Which is like a market place where you can find many things for very cheap. It's a little crazy going there so please be aware that this is not a good area of Lima to be at so you need to leave your jewelry and expensive cell phone at home and carry your purse right next to you and just the necessary stuff. But it's worth the time to go.Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Russell3939Castle Rock, CO1,024 contributionsWe found this to be much better than the Inca market. There are a ton of shops to see. I feel like they all start to look the same after a while, but my wife disagrees. Some of the shop owners can be a bit pushy which takes away from the enjoyment of window shopping. They are willing to haggle on the price so don’t just pay the listed price. Worth a stop if you are in area, not worth a trip across town for.Written July 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - adsum_12Ottawa, Canada109 contributionsA good mix of Peruvian stores mixed with those you could find anywhere. We’ve been coming here for over a decade and have few complaints. There are a couple of local faster food places, a cinema with English language films (or at least subtitled) and it has been safe for us to use the banks and cell phone stores. The grocery store has a good selection of harder to find items and sometimes decent fish. It’s popular with the locals so usually fairly crowded. Well worth a visit.Written December 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ana MonetBolivia54 contributionsThis place is great if you’re looking to find a ton of Peruvian souvenirs. They have handmade, authentic goods, trinkets, jewelry, clothing, etc. However, be prepared for shop owners to talk to you and try to sell you things.Written January 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JEG77 contributionsThis market is large and very interesting. The perfect view into the real Lima and definitely not a tourist destination. If you are adventurous and want to see the city’s commerce in action, hold onto your valuables and buckle in for a look under the hood.Written September 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - meli13meloKeene, NH125 contributionsI've been here before during one of my Lima visits. It wasn't as popular then, but definitely something I found awesome. It was very busy this time around and I am glad to see that organic food and products are getting more attention. Came here for breakfast and left with a full belly of delicious food.Written May 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - goodguyjasLondon, UK1,219 contributionsStylish shopping centre in the hillside near the beachfront. Multiple levels with emphasis on clothes shops plus places to eat and snack. Popular area for locals and tourists. Felt very safe walking about at night with lots of security around. Not a massive mall but a good size with plenty of shops to explore.Written September 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LucioLima, Peru98 contributionsI visited this place with my brother. We tried makis, which were simply ok. The place seemed modern and well organized, much like Real Plaza Salaverry. Still, not as cool as Jockey Plaza.Written June 29, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David WRomsey, UK122 contributionsA great and fascinating museum. We were passing Mundo Alpaca and decided on the spur of the moment to call in. We were warmly welcomed by Nataly who guided us to the main exhibits. Some fascinating displays of the history of alpacas in Peru. A wide range of alpaca woollen merchandise too. Absolutely worth half an hour of your time.Written October 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Roland PLima, Peru35 contributionsThe Polo Shopping Center is very well located, right next door to some of the best specialized hospitals and clinics. It also has a great Gym for working out. Also is only a few blocks from a local Market and a Vivanda Market (Grocery Store).
This is the place where classy ladies go shopping. It has some of the best clothing and accessories shops in Lima.
The restaurants in the area are all very good.
The plaza (that is me in the picture) has a few sidewalk cafes, like Micky Dees, Dunking Donuts and other cafes, more classy ones.
Although it has 3 rows of stores, notice that there is another shopping mall next door, that you can reach through El Polo Avenue (in the back).
If you are a Polo enthusiast (the actual sport), the Lima Polo Club is located behind the Embassy and it is open to the public on major polo championships. (The embassy grounds used to be part of the Polo Club).
To get there, just take a city bus from Miraflores (2 soles fare) and leave the driving to someone else. Parking is plentiful and I believe free (with validation).
There is a huge underground parking lot under the building next door, but unless is rush hour, there is plenty of parking.
Lots of regular locals hang out and on weekends, there are free activities (like street shows). Great for an early Saturday night outing.Written January 20, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's only a few rooms -- won't take more than a 30 minute visit -- but I really enjoy this artwork. They had a series of Star Wars illustrations that were beautiful. Fun superhero artwork - worth a stop.Written January 4, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
