This is a great, comprehensive museum of Andean cultures. It is housed in a building that the Incas to re-educate the children of conquered nations. Then the Spanish used it to re-educate orphaned Inca children in a convent school. You learn about each of the 3,000 years of cultures, the artistry, and symbols in the Andes. There are audio and written guides in multiple languages. Our 9 and 10 year old kids loved it, too.

I should also mention it's not part of the tourist pass-set of museums. So, unlike the Regional Historical Museum of Cusco, you can visit this without having to buy an expensive pass. You can, of course, spring for the museum and restaurant tickets.

Wow, what a splendid display of traditional weaving and beyond. Maximo was there and came to say hello to me. Made my day to speak to him about his weaving and learn about his techniques in weaving. If you love color and history pre Inca, this is the place to be. His imagination is endless. Each piece is a story and just so magical in the presentation of color and stitch detail.

I went in here without a guide as I had free time. I wish I had a guide to help explain more about it. The architecture is superb and the crypts are something else, the smell really gives an ambience.

I liked this place with some special art designs. Hilario's signature is long neck images with unusual breast placement. Worth a view if you are near by.

If you are looking for a beautiful, authentic piece of Peru to take home, this is the store. It is not full of touristy stuff. This store has handmade, quality items and you can tell the difference. Save yourself some time and shop here! Great prices too!

The museum is really small, it has not much to offer. If it wasn't included in the boleto turistico it would not be worth visiting at all, except for super art nerds.

An eclectic mix of contemporary works, as well as showcases of better known local artists, all in a beautiful working building.
Commentary on the seasonal exhibits is in Spanish, so have your translator app handy if you want to know more.

We stopped in at this museum because we had purchased the boleto turistico and it was included in the cost. I would not recommend paying for admission separate from the boleto turistico. It is located in the basement of the Galerias Turisticas and it feels like a cast aside collection of items that do not fit elsewhere.
