Definitely one of the best things we did in Cusco.

So I'm used to the Montreal planetarium, with its two domes and exhibitions, and I ever fairly remember the older planetarium back when it was downtown and I was still a little child. That's all pretty cool...

...but not as cool as learning cosmology and astronomy through the lens of Incas and pre-inca civilizations, and certainly not as cool as stargazing in the southern hemisphere under a clear sky and with hi-tech telescopes. The part under the dome was also super entertaining. The animator was funny, and I learned a great deal about constellations, including those we don't hear much about up north.

It was also so cool to get picked up by car in the late afternoon and drive to the Planetarium, a bit outside the city and almost in the wilderness.

This Planetarium receives no funding from governments (or from Aluminum companies like the one in Montreal), so please support this great DIY project! I bought the book on Inca cosmology at the gift shop afterwards!

Excellent small museum. Well organized and curated. I highly recommend the audio guide. After visiting the museums in Lima, this was a happy surprise.

I went in here without a guide as I had free time. I wish I had a guide to help explain more about it. The architecture is superb and the crypts are something else, the smell really gives an ambience.

The best part of this place is the large variety of coca products for sale in the gift shop. Good prices on them too.

Walking into this museum you can see the great patios from the old houses in Cusco. The tile work is amazing and the pieces donated by Mr. Orihuela Yabar are a great treasure for the Archdiocese of Cusco.
Walking in the rooms gives you an idea on how people used the artifacts and how the pictures decorated with gold leaf make the room extraordinary and beautiful.

Very interesting history. This was purchased from the US in the 1800s and shipped with a statue of Geronimo on top. Seemed everyone though it was OK since it looked like a "native". It was not until later they replaced the statue. The statue is NOT of a specific person but rather a generic representation.

The staff are helpful and friendly and they seemed pleased that people were visiting. Lockers are provided for bags and cameras are permitted. We would have liked more about the Incas but the experience was very worthwhile.

We brought our teen boys here to give them some background about Machu Picchu. The exhibits were informative though I suspect that it is a bit of a repeat for those that are already familiar with the history. For us though, it was worth the visit.

The quality of the alpaca products was exceptional. We purchased two tapestries that are truly works of art. The service is fantastic, and we even met the artist who designed and made our tapestries.

My friends and I had time in our schedule and our guide(not needed) took us to this lovely local museum. Free but you can donate. Nice displays and friendly staff. Features handicrafts of the Sacred Valley. Good for someone who can't do a lot of strenuous activity or for someone with extra time in the schedule.

Stopped here on the way from Cusco to the Manu National Park. After lunch our guide suggested that we stop by the museum. We didn't expect much, but what a surprise! It is a very nice, professionally done museum. My favorite section had lots of costumes from an annual festival that they have in the town. Very colorful and intricate.
