We had a worthwhile experience and I highly recommend booking through this locally-based tour company. The staff were professional and well-organized. We attended a debriefing the evening before the journey began, where we were given detailed information about the day-by-day itinerary and a reminder of what items to bring. Difficult treks were front-loaded and there was plenty of time to rest before arriving at Machu Picchu. Our guides, Edy and Sergio, were responsive and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the region. In addition, the porters (lead porter Venedicto) and the chef (Eulogio) made sure everything was ready for our arrival at the campsites so that we did not have to wait long to eat or relax at the end of each day. Entry tickets to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, as well as the train ticket back to Cusco, were provided for us. We appreciated not having to do additional planning for the trip besides just showing up with our supplies. One detail that we did not anticipate was that the staff leave on a separate train for locals on the last day and are not available to guide the group during the train-boarding process. Due to language barriers with the PeruRail staff, we missed our train. We were not offered any refunds or exchanges by PeruRail and were forced to purchase new tickets to get back to Cusco. Fortunately, after communicating with the tour company, they were able to reimburse half the cost of the new tickets. We appreciated their responsiveness regarding this incident. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to go with them.
