Given the hoops one must jump through to get to Machu Picchu, I believe we were handed off quite well from one leg to another.

At the ruins themselves, our guide, Fred, was very knowledgeable and accommodating of our questions and requests for photos. He was like a walking encyclopedia of information.

The ruins themselves are a wonder - both impressive and serene. Highly recommend.

We had a very rare experience since it snowed on the day we went. It was still fun but it was cold! We didn’t see the different colors of Rainbow Mtn but it’s unique to have pictures of the snow covered terrain. Ours guides Luis and Alfredo were super nice!! The breakfast buffet was okay but lunch was great! The hike is not that hard as long as you pace yourself.

Tour guide Luigi made this super tour enjoyable and fun. Being able to see so many places in a single day made the experience worthwhile. From Chinchero to Moray, to the Salt Mines and finally Ollantaytambo, I reached the Temple of the Sun and basked in the amazing views.

Tour guide Wally made every part of the tour amazing. The trek upwards was difficult, but as long as you take it easy, you will make it. The view of the top is breathtaking, seeing the Humantay Lake in its full splendor. I was lucky the weather was perfect, even the glaciers were visible.

We had a worthwhile experience and I highly recommend booking through this locally-based tour company. The staff were professional and well-organized. We attended a debriefing the evening before the journey began, where we were given detailed information about the day-by-day itinerary and a reminder of what items to bring. Difficult treks were front-loaded and there was plenty of time to rest before arriving at Machu Picchu. Our guides, Edy and Sergio, were responsive and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the region. In addition, the porters (lead porter Venedicto) and the chef (Eulogio) made sure everything was ready for our arrival at the campsites so that we did not have to wait long to eat or relax at the end of each day. Entry tickets to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, as well as the train ticket back to Cusco, were provided for us. We appreciated not having to do additional planning for the trip besides just showing up with our supplies. One detail that we did not anticipate was that the staff leave on a separate train for locals on the last day and are not available to guide the group during the train-boarding process. Due to language barriers with the PeruRail staff, we missed our train. We were not offered any refunds or exchanges by PeruRail and were forced to purchase new tickets to get back to Cusco. Fortunately, after communicating with the tour company, they were able to reimburse half the cost of the new tickets. We appreciated their responsiveness regarding this incident. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to go with them.

Our guide, Mauro Salas Quispe DNI #48451988, was absolutely fantastic. He regaled us with the history of Machu Picchu in a near perfect English. We did Circuit #3. He helped us make this visit a memorable one.
From Cusco, all the way there and back, the service was exceptional.
I’ve already recommended this tour with Happy Gringo to colleagues and friends.
    I will most
Likely do it again myself with family.

My wife and I did this tour the day after Machu Picchu, and it did not disappoint. We were very happy to learn facts about the Incas' that we did not know before, which made all of the Incan ruins that much more special and impressive. Jose Tito and his driver Richard were very professional, and Jose knew his stuff! We met another family whose son was studying abroad here, so it is very interesting to hear them exchange knowledge. I would definitely recommend before or after Machu Picchu, or even as a standalone if you don't want to make the trek out. We left Cusco the day after this tour, so thank you for ending our trip on a high note... Literally because we went up 1300 feet!

Hiking Rainbow Mountain was an unforgettable experience! The views were absolutely breathtaking—vivid colors, towering peaks, and a landscape like no other. Our guide, Yamile, made the experience even better with his knowledge and enthusiasm. Yamile was attentive to everyone’s needs, pacing the hike perfectly so we could fully enjoy the surroundings. Reaching the summit and taking in the panoramic views was a highlight of my trip. Both breakfast and lunch was provide and very tasty. I highly recommend this tour for both the incredible scenery and Yamile’s excellent guidance! Herber Forever!!

Fifty years after my first wish to visit this fabled location, the opportunity presented itself, and I took it. It was worth waiting 50 years! A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 and designated one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, when blessed with good weather as I was, the scenery is astounding! There is little actually known about this 15th Century site, but the engineering and skills needed to construct it -- separate from the western knowledge of astronomy, cartography, printing, etc. - show how truly advanced the Inca civilization was, despite being hidden from the rest of the world. It's the #1 visited site in Peru, and for good reason!
