- rfizz19 contributionsWe did a guided full day tour on a day with no rain, no hail, and no fog. It was a fantastic experience. The scenery and Polyepsis trees are otherworldly. That said our guide told us the weather in Cajas can be “savage”. Also hiking several miles at 14000 feet elevation on wet, technical trails is not something to do on a whim. You need to be in excellent shape, have hiking shoes/boots, rain gear and sunscreen. Trekking poles not a must but take them if you have them.Written January 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ZivBndArlington, VA264 contributionsThe cathedral itself is simply gorgeous inside. I spent a restful 15 minutes meditating in a pew with 30 or 40 people sitting nearby, either relaxing or praying as the case may be. I am not sure that photography is allowed in the church itself, there are no cell phone signs but they may just mean no phone calls. Not sure.
The roof top terrace gives phenomenal pictures of the blue dome, just beautiful. And there are two stops on the climb so you can rest on your ascent and descent. Nice planning there.Written November 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Recommending to visit this city of the country.Written November 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ZivBndArlington, VA264 contributionsMy Spanish is lacking and few of the exhibits had an English translation but that is my fault for not knowing Spanish as well as I should. But some of the exhibits did have explanations in English as well as Spanish. I was not part of a tour so that was on me. Interestingly, the Jivaro/Ashur displays regarding head hunting did have English translations. I guess you have to set your priorities somewhere...
Still enjoyable with limited Spanish comprehension, I spent more than an hour of touring the place.Written November 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard MPhoenix, AZ427 contributionsIf you travel around the city at all, you will cross this narrow but fast-flowing river. It is worth the time to walk on a bridge, gaze at the flow, take a picture and then go where you are going.Written April 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
