- LUIS BLong Island, NY4 contributionsNice gathering of information/history and homeopathic remedies. Beautiful paintings for sale. Very informativeWritten March 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Travelaround59London, UK1,867 contributionsI loved this church: it shows all the opulence of the catholic faith in a very good way.
I was mainly drawn from the exterior that is so different from the surrounding churches (and I love the exterior even more than the interior)
I was a bit disappointed because you are not allowed to take pictures (but I had to sneak one, sorry!) but the church is amazingly glorious with the gold gleaming in the sun coming from the top windows. Of course you just wonder around taking everything in and I find it relaxing not to have to focus on unmissable art (like the churches in Italy) and just enjoy your surroundings.Written February 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of street food on offer , the devil preaching ! Wedding parties and children having a great time.

But the best fun was being able to climb the infrastructure and see both the interior and out to the rooftop and amazing views of Quito. If you are already a little breathless from the city altitude, there is an elevator. There are also shops and rest stops on a few floors.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Larraine K19 contributionsReally enjoyed this trip and although it was cloudy on and off , when it cleared the views were great.

Stunning paintings and artwork displayed in such a beautiful setting. We were fortunate to have an English speaking guide take us around the gallery. Highly recommend a visit here.
The house which is included in the tour is definitely worth visiting. We had a wonderful guide who was so knowledgable about the artist and his life, well worth a visit.Written February 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building is interesting as is his art. We had a tour of the museum and also booked a tour of his nearby home. I'd never heard of him and was impressed at his oeuvre.
We were brought by our guide in Quito but I could tell that it wouldn't have been an easy place to get to on our own.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was far less crowded than Ciudad Mitad Del Mundo, which is 250m south of the actual equator. A guided tour was included with the price of admission and we got to participate in some fun science experiments involving the equator. Definitely preferred this over the flashier Mitad Del Mundo.Written December 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sazkya C1 contributionIt was a wonderful experience visiting this World Heritage Place. It is a remarkable example of colonial architecture and art in Ecuador. The church is adorned with impressive paintings, sculptures and altar pieces that reflect the artistic diversity of the Quito School. The Basilica and convent of San Francisco de Quito is a must-see for anyone interested in the history and heritage of Ecuador.Written March 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Johan P1 contributionLa Mitad del Mundo is an emblematic monument located on the outskirts of the city of Quito, Ecuador. The monument itself consists of a large stone structure representing the equator and is topped by a giant globe. Visitors can stand on the line marked on the ground, which represents the division between the two hemispheres, and take pictures on one side of the world and the other. In addition to the monument in the surrounding area you'll find a museum called the "Intiñan Solar Museum," which offers interactive and educational exhibits on natural phenomena that occur in the equatorial region, as well as experiments related to gravity and location on the equator. It's an interesting place to learn about Ecuador's geography and culture, and to experience the curiosities that occur at the equator, such as the ability to balance eggs on a nail or the deflection of water in different hemispheres.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lawrence HPlainview11 contributionsThis museum just off Plaza de San Francisco has an amazing collection of pre-Columbian art from all parts of Ecuador, nicely displayed in many rooms on two levels in an old building around a courtyard. So many beautiful objects that we got tired of taking pictures. Highly recommend for anyone interested in art. Reservations not needed.Written January 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- robert-not-homeBoston, MA2,285 contributionsWhile the statue is what is highlighted here the views are what are most breathtaking from my perspective. Sure, look at and enjoy the statute but you will spend more time looking at the surrounding areas from this viewpoint.Written December 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travelaround59London, UK1,867 contributionsSuch a peaceful (well it was peaceful at 9,30 am!) square with a nice balance of buildings on the sides (especially il Palacio de Gobierno) and the lovely statue in the middle…all very balanced indeed!!!
I loved the little manicured gardens and the trees that provide a nice shade. A rather grand square in the little old town.Written February 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The quality of the live frog exhibits the enthusiasm of the staff and the ethos behind the operation made for a magical 1.5 hr visit. This is seriously the best operation of its kind that I have visited in a very long time. Whether you are interested in frogs or not this place will not disappoint. Situated around 20 minutes from central Quito by taxi. If you have a spare few hours in Quito I would thoroughly recommend a visit.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
