- LUIS B3 contributionsNice gathering of information/history and homeopathic remedies. Beautiful paintings for sale. Very informativeWritten March 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- spendingpensionLincoln, UK242 contributionsNot really much on display here for a national museum so great for a quick visit. The temporary exhibition of landscape paintings was particularly good.Written September 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelT66Boston, MA20 contributionsWe happened on this museum, built in an old hospital while wandering in the centro historico. It was well done, well-sized, interactive, and really helped us have a good sense for Quito and Ecuador. Bonus exhibits about the hospital and plant medicine were terrific.Written February 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Judith RCincinnati, OH333 contributionsWe happened into the museum because it was next to a street side cafe. They provided an English speaking guide who was so genial and extremely thorough in her descriptions. The story of Maria Augusta is intriguing, the artifacts are impressive - and the bathroom was a marvel of tile and stained glass (no photos, darn). The visit took a little longer than we expected but it was worth the time to see what life was like in Quito at the turn of the century.Written April 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve KNew Taipei, Taiwan737 contributionsThis ethnographical collection focuses on a number of indigenous Ecuadorean cultures. It's really quite good, but be warned that there is only a certain number of large information panels in English - all other interpretation is in Spanish. As elsewhere in Quito, getting in is a security operation in its own right, but you will be richly rewarded.Written April 25, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert BlackieMexico City, Mexico353 contributionsWhat a wonderful surprise to come across this hidden gem of a museum during my exploration of Centro Histórico. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was really impressed by how interesting and educational this museum was! My guide, Natalia, was phenomenal. Although the marvelous guided tour she provided was in Spanish, she spoke slowly and clearly for me so that I understood 100% of what she said with my moderate level of Spanish. I knew nothing about the lives of the nuns who lived within these walls and was fascinated by how they carried out their day-to-day activities. There are some amazing works of art in various stages of restoration (the pandemic has hindered the process) by anonymous artists - but to learn why they remain anonymous you have to visit! Tours last about an hour and this former convent provides for some great photo opportunities. Taking photos is actually encouraged and I took many. Overall, I was immensely impressed by this museum and HIGHLY recommend adding it to any itinerary while visiting Quito. Ask for Natalia for her amazing tour and intriguing insights into this fascinating place. You won't be disappointed!Written May 20, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Adar IToronto, Canada14 contributionsAgave museum is a real jewel!
It is a relatively new museum, but a unique and exciting one, a must do!
The hosts all speak good English.
The experience starts with seeing the different types of Agave and the uses of it by the Andeans. Then, it proceeds with a tour at the distillery and lastly there's the tasting!
Beautifully crafted, super enjoyable!Written June 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Everything is beautifully displayed and lit, but captions and audio-visual displays are only in Spanish (which I don't understand, but still thought the museum well worth an hour of our time).
The photo is wrong .. the museum is brand spanking new within the Catholic University (the address is correct). Ask at the gate and they will direct you to the entrance, the museum is on the second floor. Entrance is free.Written March 21, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Little bit hard find, without lonelly planet impossible to realize just from the street. Close to Mariscal, I went walk. Do not miss it, even this is a small one.
The door is closed, left side there is button to doorbell, push it.
Other: there is super clean toilette inside.Written November 23, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Cheap admission and worth the price. Restaurant is also recommended for reasonably priced local food.Written June 13, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
