The music is suited to this, a blend of European and South American mixes to appeal to all cultures. The DJs are more home town than big town but provide a very affable atmosphere, a sound to move your body to. Even if that means dad dancing like me. The aps were solid bar food and the drinks were pretty cheap. - TalataSLLima, Peru23 contributionsI had a good time dancing salsa at Lavoe. I went as a solo female salsera and I felt completely safe and got quite a few good dances in. It's a good mix of salsa and bachata. One thing: previous reviews said that they are open for classes and dancing on Tuesdays but I checked and as of July 2022 it seems like they only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so make sure to double check their FB or website. The area right outside is a little dark and empty but the bouncers kindly waited for a taxi with me. They have dancing taxis (leads whose job is to ask follows to dance) which was nice! - Yaron S4 contributionsOkay this place is not the cheapest in the city of Quito but I will tell you this. The cocktails are great and made with care. The glasses are checked by the staff before they are served which I have never seen at any location in Quito so far. The level of professionalism is fantastic when it comes to the staff. - Kimberly JMiami Beach, FL7 contributionsWe specifically hunted this place down for dinner on our last night in Quito, after many wonderful meals throughout the city. We first had a drink a the bar with an informative and entertaining bartender. Well done. We then moved to the table where I requested the wine menu. After some review I ordered a nice bottle and we started perusing the dinner menu. The waiter came back, and went directly to my friend, who was a male, (I am female) and told him the wine I had chosen was not available and starting pointing to other wines that he would suggest. I asked him why, when ordered the wine, he would consult the other diner. He looked shocked and uncomfortable. He literally, ran away from the table! Another waiter returned a few minutes later (as we chuckled at his machismo gaffaw), and properly brought me the wine list and asked me to re-chose, which I did, When he returned to the table, he set down the two wine glasses and proceeded to pour the taste for my friend. Once again, ignoring that I had ordered the wine, so should ALWAYS be the one to taste it for quality. This is an example of a restaurant who has not trained their staff properly and risks insulting and embarrassing their guests by disrespecting the growing group of women who are hosting and paying for dining experiences. The second major disappointment was the fact that the Argentianian beef, which it claims to be 'famous' for, was completely unavailable because of a falling out with the vendor. We were instead offered beer from Uruguay. What a disappointment considering I was hosting this dinner for my Argentinian guest. Our waiter quickly removed our original menus including a mouth-watering selection of Argentinian beef, and replaced it with an abbbrieviated menu excluding those items. They either need to unbrand them selves as an Argentianin grill, or to make amends with their vendor. What a disappointment. That being said the restaurant has the structure and decor to make for a fine restaurant and the staff, although poorly trained in the etiquette of 2019, seemed to be eager to please. Drinks are good and well priced, the whole place has a fun vibe where everyone seems to know everyone. It's like a house party at a bar!

The clientele is select, in my opinion one of the best bars in Plaza Foch. - Nnn1112Amsterdam, The Netherlands19 contributionsSerious safety incidentIf you want your girlfriend to be sexually harassed by the staff, this is a perfect place. I went out in Xandu in Quito, also known as rapists paradise for employees.
While I was dancing with my girlfriend, she was ass-grabbed by one of the employees. When I tried to confront him with his behaviour he immediately became very aggressive. By this time I didn't even notice he was working there.
When I talked to the security to kick the guy out and I pointed him out they said they would 'talk' with him, but obviously they didn't do anything about it. He was still walking around and our evening was overshadowed by some sexual predator who can't keep his hands to himself.
So if you like to be sexually harassed, ass-grabbed, be part of #metoo, and maybe even raped in the toilets, come to this place!
