Maganda yung place, hindi pa commercialized pero medyo matao (well summer). Don't expect na may magandang hotel or kainan dito.

my father hailed from this province and for the many summers i spent here during my childhood, i have never appreciated what abra may offer - until my family decided to climb this afternoon the hill i have always taken for granted, even when the entrance is free.

it is overlooking the whole town of bangued and the great abra river. it also has a new attraction - a light show that starts at 7 in the evening. we came to victoria park post-Christmas and there was only a small crowd at the peak, which was alright since we eased our way for a good selfie spot to catch the setting sun.

there were no shops around except for a single stall that sold limited souvenir mugs. it is still a work in progress and i just hope it would not take that long before this hill becomes a sustainable tourist hub, replete with everything, including free wifi.

My wife and I was not sure what to do on our trip and our driver recommended we go here. He was not wrong. The place was on of the last fighting places in WW2. Very loved area in the Philippines and makes you really appreciate how much sacrifice our troops really did during the war along side the Philippines.
Be ready to be very hot. This time of the year you need to protect yourself from the heat and sun.

Its our second time to pass by Kalbario Patapat Nature Park last 31 March 2015. We were en route to Pagudpud from Cagayan. After traversing through the mountains & coastlines of Cagayan, the nature park - the first attraction of Pagudpud from Ilocos Norte's marker was refreshing. Maharlika highway zigzags through the park via a "tunnel " formed by entagled roots of century old trees from the mountain. Such a natural wonder!
At the pit stop, you will see the mountain springs & grotto, & across it are nipa huts selling souvenir items & known products of the region i.e. sukang Iloko & variety of bagoongs. It was a long hot ride but temperature there was so cool when I alighted from the car.
If I may suggest to adventurous road trippers, the best route to Ilocos is via Cagayan because you will have a magnificent view of the via duct, the forested mountain range, the coastal coves & the open sea.

This is a good place to consider visiting if you'd like to see the Rizal monument and a wide view of Mauban, to have some fresh air, and to see different labeled plants on the way up. If you don't want to pressure your knees, you can walk along the hill's outer areas instead of taking the long, straight stairway midway.

I'd like to suggest improving or replacing some plant labels plus having more plants at the small areas found at the sides of the long, straight stairway.

The resort is kind of spacious but you would not find a decent place to stay for the whole day. The place is hilly and not accessible for elders who have difficulty in walking up and down thru the area.
With only 75 pesos entrance fee per pax, no one would bother to assist you inside the resort. It was a holiday when we visited the place to take a dip at their cold water swimming pools since the water is naturally sourced from the mountain, so we expected lots of people inside. Indeed, all the pools inside were jampacked with people of different ages. Also, we found it hard to park near the area. We opted to park on a private property which the owner allowed however with a fee (no amount required but you just have to give some to the owner of the property for some consolation. We decided to cut short our stay there because there are still lots of people coming in for a swim.
I would suggest that you visit the place on a weekday so you could really appreciate the place and its nature.

Nothing fancy in this memorial park. But it's nice to know your history. The place is along the way going to Baler from Manila via Bongabon, Nueva Ecija

I have been wanting to visit and experience the famous hot springs of Tiwi in Albay. (By the way this is not in Naga as indicated here in Tripadvisor). So my family decided to go and see the tiwi hot spring resort.

The entrance fee was Php50 per head. There was an access for PWD. The resort got 2 pools. One for the kids and one for the adults.

Unfortunately, according to the resort staff, this is no longer a hot spring water from the mayon volcano. The resort had stopped receiving the hot spring water from the volcano because the geothermal powerplant near the resort made a pipeline that will divert all the water to go to the plant instead of the resort (this is sad )

There were very few guests when we arrived. My daughter and i enjoyed the big pool for ourselves.

The food are reasonably priced and the serving are enough for 3-4 pax.

Floater can be rented at Php50. The area is clean. There are several tables one can use for free. The resort also has several cottages that can be rented.

We had enjoyed the place for 3 hours and i would say that it is ok.

Enjoyed the ATV Mayon black lava trail even if it was raining at the start. I was alone with the guide. It was a great adventure and the rain further made me enjoy the ride because we passed by streams with flowing water.

Learned that this used to be a Chinese enclave outside the walls of Intramuros. Now a park often filled with people enjoying the sights and sounds (besides the pollution) of the city. The fountain treats you with a little show, just be careful of your surroundings especially at night. #RP
