What travelers are saying
- pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA4,461 contributionsBoracay has its fans and detractors. People say it’s too crowded or touristy, but, the fact remains we have been to some of the finest beaches throughout the world, and, despite its shortcomings, this is one of finest 4 km stretches of beach you’ll ever come across. Perfect, silky sand, with very little trash. Exceptional sunsets. Great bar/restaurant choices. I loved just walking up and down while people watching. Stay north around Station 1 for less crowds, or, around 2 if you want to be where all the people congregate. Just the perfect beach, and, at the northern end, not crowded at all.Written February 5, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is quite spoilt though compared to many years ago as they made it so commercial for tourist, and now you can only hi to the first falls. The rest for Canyoneering. Quite unfair but it is still worth going there. I just hope people maintain it's cleanliness. Filipinos are so bad in dumping their trash everywhere. Appalling attitude.Written August 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mo EspirituUnion City, CA16 contributionsI'm not a mall person but I love this charming, walkable Makati mall with all its lush green spaces and water features; familiar brands and chain stores, as well as local retail places, and European stores; its fairly sizable selection of eateries and coffee places; and its overall chill vibe.
Americans and Europeans, don't expect to pay lower prices here for brands you know back home. This is definitely a go-to place for affluent locals as many of the stores are high-end brands like Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Balenciaga, and a slew of others. There are more affordable options as well such as Zara, Mango, Adidas, Puma, and a number of other retailers. Prices for clothing, shoes, and accessories are pretty much the same as you'd pay in the west. (If you're looking for Filipino souvenirs, though, I recommend heading the Kultura in the Glorietta Mall instead.)
There are several really good restaurants, too. We had a memorable al fresco ribeye dinner at a wonderful steak house called Ember; prices were slightly less than what we'd pay for a comparable meal where we live in the expensive San Francisco Bay Area. We also had a fabulous Italian lunch at a spot called Tartufo across the way from Ember. We had Japanese food at Nikkei Robata, which was really affordable, and served one of the best mango slushies I've had in the Philippines.
Oh! And if you have a sweet tooth and need a sugar fix, we went to the British department store Marks & Spencer's snack shop multiple times for chocolates, gummies, and other treats. We still crave these delicious little gummy pigs we kept buying there but can't get back home.
But one of the most fun things to do at Greenbelt is to people watch. Grab something cool to drink, find a nice shady spot to chill out, then sit back and watch the locals strolling and conversing, rushing to their next destination, or have a nice chat with one of them. There's such a mellow, relaxed vibe there.
One thing that was initially off putting for my companion was that there's an open air church and they have mass a few times a day. It's standing room only sometimes and it can get loud, especially when there's singing. I had to remind my travel partner that the Philippines is majority Catholic and Filipinos take their religion seriously. He got used to it and didn't bat an eye when church hymns were being sung as we dined at Ember.
If you're planning a trip to a remote part of the Philippines and need a place to decompress from the rustic living before you head back home, a visit or two to Greenbelt might be a nice coda to your Philippine travel. I'm Filipino American and I usually hang out in Makati and Greenbelt for a couple of days before I fly to my family's province to visit relatives and a couple of days before I head back home to the US. It's a nice place to decompress.Written January 24, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pat BMiami, FL188 contributionsOn the morning of Dec 28, 2024, 4 of us went to this glorious underwater phenomenon to be among the sharks and stingrays and having been there before i guarantee Ocean Park has improved spectacularly in the last 10 years, from the fishes to the penguins. This was my 3rd visit and i was amazed how well this place is maintained. Except the gift shop. Gone are the specialty boutiques with quality clothes. They have been replaced with one huge store that resembles a charity shop with toys all over the floor and t-shirts in disarray on top of them. We did not find any worthwhile souvenirs of quality that could be taken home with pride. The truth is, it gave a poor ending to an entertaining and educational Saturday morning. I hope this comment will reach the management and will revive what was once a pleasure to spend a relaxing moment browsing and buying.Written January 31, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - m w w2 contributions4 floors shopping and restaurants they have many brand name clothing store along with other that I'm not familiar with but that normal for me not being a clothing fanatic. Many restaurants Asian, Mexican, Italian, pizza and st houses etc. Being from the USA. I had the opportunity to eat at restaurants that were common in the States such as Chili's, Burger King, Kenny Roger's, Texas Roadhouse, Dairy Queen, Deny's etc. Which were pretty enjoyable except for Texas Roadhouse wouldn't return there ever again. Atmosphere is good throughout the whole mall, though there are a few very rude people some foreigners as well as philippine people that were very disrespectful. It is somewhat an adventure to navigate through the mall since there is no directory boards on each floor to give anyone to navigate the shops or eating places. Don't trust the arrow directions for facilities like restrooms because they are not always the correct direction at least not on the 2nd or 3rd floors. It is quite crowded or at least it was the 4 weekdays that I had visited. Overall it was pretty good experience.Written February 5, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
