I was hesitant to visit this temple because we only had 2 days in Kyoto and there are so many temples. But it’s very beautiful and striking. Lots of people stop and get a photo when you first view the temple. Walk around there are other spots to get a photo. The grounds are lovely too.

If you can only visit one temple in Kyoto, this should be it. Less crowds than Mt Inari (still very busy but more space at least). The architecture is beautiful, as are the views of the forest and surrounding suburbs. Be prepared for the heat in summer, but the walking is not too harsh, and there's plenty of great spots nearby for lunch.

Beautiful shops line the streets approaching this cultural icon. Go early to avoid the crowds. Must combine this with your trip to the Skytre which is just a few Tokyo Metro stops ahead.

Beautiful gardens to walk around in or just hang out in a peaceful setting. The Japanese gardens are especially lovely. And after you go to walk through the gardens, check out the info session with interactive screen about Japan and get a black sesame ice cream. Delicious!

Gorgeous, huge forest park -- amazing for it to be in the middle of Tokyo. Because it's so large, it doesn't seem crowded, even when you pass huge cruise ship tour groups.

A variety of interesting places to stop and read explanatory information (in English and Japanese). The HUGE gates at each end of the park are impressive, as expected since this shrine is dedicated to the great-grandparents of the current emperor.

A really nice change of pace from big-city touristing and crowds.

An incredible place to visit. It brings home the devastation of the bomb. Hiroshima did a great thing, leaving this lasting reminder of the destruction. If you are visiting in summer, try to avoid the hottest part of the day as there is very little shade.

... consider going to this one! I had developed 'temple fatigue' by this point of my trip but this one still blew me away. The scale of it is pretty immense (especially the statues inside), and as always it's surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens. Check it out if you're in Nara!

Ok so I have to be honest, I did not actually want to go here to look at wild deer. But actually it was a really cool day trip from Osaka. It was about a 30min train ride from Osaka and then a 10 minute walk from the train station. So yes it was easy to get too. There were ALOT of deer and they were very charming. But there is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, which was very cool - and the deer were kind of just wondering around it. In the end it was a trip highlight and really worth doing, also feeding the deer with the deer crackers was fun.

Although it was hot and very humid, and there were tourists/sightseers everywhere, I very much enjoyed a scenic walk through the tranquil, graceful, and awesomely beautiful bamboo groves.

My first experience to Tokyo, the streets are very busy especially on the weekends. The shrine is a must see if in the area.

The establishment is built on the site of the Okinawa Expo and it overlook beautiful ocean. It has extensive and fun exhibition, and its largest water tank is the second largest in the world giving impressive picture of the ocean of Okinawa with so many different species. Outside of the aquarium, there are regular shows of dolphins and sea turtle tanks, and you can feed them at a fee. Great and refreshing experience and highly recommended. There is a huge parking but still it gets crowded after a few hours, so it is recommended to go early and fully enjoy the establishment.

Nice park with benches - we went during a festival which included food vendors and some entertainment. A nice break from crowds, as it's quite a large park and easy to find a quiet spot.

Thank you to our volunteer guide, Akiko, who is the daughter of an A-bomb survivor, for her time and generosity in showing us around this beautiful and peaceful memorial park. Whether you also ask for a guide (which is a free service available from inside the museum building, just ask at the desk) or just wander round the park by yourself, it’s a fitting place to remember the many victims of the Hiroshima A-bomb, both those that died immediately and those who died even years afterwards from radiation exposure related conditions, and to contemplate the importance of peace. Do not miss this during your visit to Hiroshima.

Osaka Castle Park is like a chill oasis in the middle of the city hustle. You've got this big, historic castle that's like a time machine to ancient Japan. The park is perfect for picnics and strolls – there are trees, ponds, and fresh air galore. If you're in Osaka and need a breather, this park is your go-to. Castle vibes and nature feels all in one place! 🏯🌳🍃
