    Located in the Izu Geopark.
On a clear day, you can see Izu Oshima in the distance.
The scenery of nature is worth seeing. There is also a small suspension bridge, which will be a fun experience for children.

My wife and I had a private guide that met us at the hotel and did about an 11 KM walk starting from Magome. Very lovely old Japanese villages along the way and a nice and gentle experience of the Nakasendo trail which links Kyoto to Tokyo.

A nice resort - although suffering a little from no fresh snow . We found some nice runs to fill in the morning - as it did soften by late morning on a sunny day

Craft beer stop for a break by the fire a nice touch

Just returned from an amazing experience on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Hike. Mike Rhodes from Kumano Travel was a wealth of cultural, historical, and practical knowledge. His enthusiasm, local connections, and flexibility enriched our trip beyond my expectations. Our ryokan stays were wonderfully authentic and very comfortable. The variety, quantity, and quality of food was an unexpected treat. Our hosts went above and beyond to welcome us and ensure all our needs were met. When the typhoon moved in our direction, Mike quickly mapped out safer options for our hikes each day. We could never have done this trip without him!

This park was quite a lovely stop for my husband, dog, and me. The views were lovely and there are numerous picnic tables throughout the trails. It took us only about an hour to get through all the trails and off shoots. Each cliff basically has its only offshoot from the main trail but it’s worth going out to each of the views. There’s enough elevation change that it still feels like exercise even if the actual distance isn’t too long. When we went, the free lot was full so we ended up parking about half a kilometer away in a pay lot by an aquarium. It’s nice that there are multiple parking options. If already out on the Chiba Peninsula, this is worth a stop.

Hiking on Mount Takachiho-no-mine has been a wonderful experience. I've never hiked in Japan before, and it was my first time in Kyushu, but I think that I've started with one of the best mountains!
Lorraine, a very kind and friendly French girl from Kobayashi City Promotion Co., took me there by car from Kannogo Onsen (the place where I stayed), and guided me to the top.
Before starting the hike, be sure to buy some water at the vending machines if you don't have some with you, because you won't find it on the top.
The landscape changes as you go up. All the way to the top, you can admire fascinating volcanic landscapes with numerous shaped volcanic cones and craters.
According to the Japanese Mythology, Ninigi no Mikoto, grandson of the Sun Goddess, threw his spear on the summit of this mountain, the same spear that he used to create the island of Japan. Finding the spear at the top and admiring the breathtaking panorama from the top has been astonishing.
I recommend the use of sunscreen, sunglasses and hiking shoes. In total, it took us about 3 hours.

Yamanobe-no-michi path is said to be Japan's most ancient road.
The path continues along the terrain at the foot of eastern mountains of the Nara basin,at an elevation of about 90 meters.
On the path, ancient shrines, temples, and tombs appear,we feel Japanese origins, and we meet Japanese life along with the gods and nature.
In March 2022,Nara Prefecture Hitorical and Artistic Culture Complex, and Fairfield by Marriott Nara Tenri Yamanobenomichi opened along Yamanobe-no-michi path.
Thanks to this,it is not only fun to walk, but we can enjoy a comfortable time staying in this area, too.
Come on,a beatiful time awaits you.

I recommend going up the path near the parking lot (Kawaranobo- steeper, slightly more challenging, along the water, rocky) and down the other route (Odagoe-flatter, rockier, more open, ladder section, plants) to give you more variety. Although this means you walk back along the road for about 30 minutes, I think it is worth it. Hayachine tends to get cloudy around noon, so you want to have an early start (around 7 at least) for a good view and a parking spot. No toilets on the mountain after the parking lot but they do sell portable toilets... I've never used one so I can't say what they are like.
Hayachine is famous for its endemic species, so keep an eye out for the flowers, especially the edelweiss!

Ever since watching the seven samurai with my dad in the sixties have been fascinated by old edo japan. This for me was an indulgent escape to visit part of the trail used by feudal warlords to pay homage to shogun in Edo(Tokyo) these two post towns and the connecting trail take you back to that time. Bucket list item for me.
