A significant religious site. Interesting exhibitions of church history and Catholic practise. Street leading to church is rather commercialised with souvenir shops.

Couldn’t view the inside of church as I went around 9am in the morning. Area around it was pretty with autumn leaves, very picturesque n quiet. Walk in from
Ginza-dori was short and peaceful. Recommend as a small detour if time allows.

It is a symbol of faith, Hidden Christian sites in Sakitsu village backed for World Heritage status in 2018.

The local tourist bus company started half day Local Tour course to attract visitors. Cost 1000 Yen (entrance fee not included). The local bus required prior reservation.

An express Bus "Amakusa-go" Bus runs every hour from Kumamoto City to Amakusa. It does not require any prior reservation. As soon as bus arrived, ask to the driver, if the seats are available, you can sure ride into the bus.

Walk up the Daisan Zaka slope and you will see this Motomachi Catholic Church which was started by a French missionary with a temporary church hall in 1867.

You will see a rooster at the top of the octagonal tower which is 33 metres in height. This rooster supposedly serves as a guardian.

There is no admission fee to enter the church though photography and videography are prohibited.

This church was dedicated in 1948 and is a landmark in Himonya. In addition to its services the church does volunteer work in support of several activities including a mission to East Timor.

The best way to access the Church, which offers a weekday and Sunday mass, is by bus, from the West Exit of JR Meguro Station. Take the bus headed for Okayama Shogakko (school) and get off at Sareijo Kyokai, a pleasant 15 minute ride in normal traffic along Meguro-Dori.

This church is built with stones from the Oya Quarry. Othere than it's stones relevance, the church is just like any other modern churches.

The church is within a short walking distance from Tobu Station.

A beautiful church to the living God. I attended Japanese 10am services, but they have Japanese mass at 7 as well. They have English Mass at 2:00pm, Vietnamese at 3:30pm, and Korean at 5:00pm. Check the website to confirm.
There’s several portraits around the sanctuary, with my favorite being the Japanese depiction of the blessed Virgin Mary. The gift shop is located outside of the cathedral to the right of the church and is run by the sweetest nuns I’d ever met.

We had a guided tour of Hirado Island including areas in the remote countryside for the 'Hidden Christians’, This is one of the churches we attended that commemorates Saint Francis Xavier who preached here in the 16th century

The new, circular St. Ignatius Church is grand yet intimate. High-ceilinged with a central chrysanthemum ceiling design that lets the light in.
All through the walls are vertical panels of stained glass, each unique.
The walls are concrete and latticed, adding texture and warmth.

The benches are so mindfully designed with bag hooks designed into the carpentey. Then there are folding helmets clearly marked for each person arranged onto the seats.
The pipe organ is still up in the loft. So visible.

The acoustics is perfect. I could hear every word of the priest. The choir loft was visible.
It's perfect. Much warmer and vibrant than the previous church.
    This truly reflects Japan

I really enjoyed my trip to Sasebo in general and praying at Miuracho Catholic Church. I'm a Black African and definitely was very noticeable during mass because of my skin tone and I was approached during mass by a Japanese old man who gave me a booklet to follow the mass (as it was held in Japanese). After mass we chatted a little also so as to give me the week program etc; I definitely felt welcomed there. I highly recommend !!

While spending my holiday in Gunma area I had a chance to took a day trip to Karuizawa. What a fun trip! Cold but very sunny. Just rent a bike. Got very fresh air while cycling through larches, along lakes, through a beautiful boulevard where many ancient western style mansions situated. In the outlet area, locals enjoyed summer time with their families and pets. So nice to see. It was crowded in Ginza shopping street but was a worth visit. Lots of traditional small shops and eatery stand side by side the street. Strolled around the street and somehow emerged in the woods and met this small church. It’s not particularly beautiful but it has its charm. Felt like it’s the sanctuary. There was a wedding going on so that made it more surreal.

This is a unique location; the home of the Tenrikyo church, a new religion with ties to the ancient Japanese faith, Shintoism. Very friendly people and the temple is always open. This is the start of the Yamanobe no Michi trail, so if you're looking for a guide to that pathway may I recommend "The Poets' Realm; Japan's Oldest Road," recently published on Amazon.
