- JACChichester, UK156 contributionsVisiting the food hall is an absolute must when in Shinjuku, Japan. Vendors sell a huge range of products and it's incredible to see the artistry of the cakes, bakery and other confections, the array of fish and meat and super fresh fruit and vegetables. It's certainly not cheap to buy your weekly food shopping, but find something for a special treat, and you won't regret it.Written July 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bobbie WWarwick, RI1,693 contributionsTalk about a huge stations. Getting into the station was easy. Finding our way out is another story. It is so huge. Immaculate. Filled with eateries, department stores and more. No need for people to have to shop outdoors. Everything you might want is in the station. Plenty of information booths to assist in helping you navigate this huge station.Written October 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bcheongShanghai, China47,629 contributionsGrander and better than Matsuya next door. More variety and more things to see and buy. Also better ambience and quality. - Ada LHong Kong, China36 contributionsIt's a grand department store with many offerings as one would expect. Must say the customer service is good. In particular we were excited by the many beautiful and delicate food offerings at the basement level.Written February 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MerrowmumGuildford, UK1,374 contributionsWe were taken to the food hall by our guide during our day exploring Tokyo. It's an amazing place, full of all sorts of beautifull, appetising food. - sfeatsSan Francisco, CA68 contributionsThis very recent trip to Tokyo where I have visited several times over the past 52 years was my first solo trip. It was well planned by me since I believe it’s easier to have a better time when you plan your trip than not. Since I have not been in my usual good walking condition, I decided to stay in Ginza, close to the good department stores that also offer a number of good restaurants to dine in. Matsuya is a superb department store with a good collection of fashionable clothiers, very good food and wine Dept. in the basement and excellent choice of restaurants on 8 th floor. I dined at Kenyan, a fine sushi restaurant twice and once at the Tempura restaurant, as a longtime lover of Japanese food, I truly enjoyed my dinners there. I also enjoyed Sake and wine tasting in the basement food Dept. around 6 pm, I was happily tasting good sake and wine free during the Happy Hour.
To summarize my Tokyo experience of 4 days in 3 words, Safe, Clean & Helpful. I enjoyed my visit very much and will return soon.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jan MHonolulu, HI232 contributionsWe stayed at Ikebukuro Sunshine City Prince Hotel and right across the street is Sunshine Seiyu grocery store that is open 24 hours year round with a few exceptions. I remembered it from our stay the previous year. I found most of my gifts for friends and lots of snacks. I had been searching at many stores for certain beauty products and food items and found all of them at Seiyu at reasonable prices. This grocery store has food items made fresh daily, fresh fruit, produce, and meats. Upstairs, you can find snacks, household goods, beauty products, and an assortment of items.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melbourne A17 contributionsPosh, relaxed shopping with several cafes for recharging. There are also seating areas for those who need to meetup.
It is twinned with Parco which has more reasonably priced goods. So they are a great shopping combo.
I really enjoyed this place as it is not crowded and is cleaner than the touristy Shinsaibashi Sugi.Written June 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It seems that it caters to everyone in the family, selling all kinds of merchandise including fashion, bags, shoes, cosmestics, toys etc. Escalators and lifts are easily accessible, just like the washrooms.
The lower basements are mainly supermarket and food stalls, where you will be spoiled for choices. And this is one of the most crowded places in the departmental store at any time of the day!
In addition, several medium to high end restaurants are located on the 8th storey, mainly Japanese and Western cuisines. This is "quieter" than at the basements and prices are generally steeper.
And if you go up another floor to the rooftop, there is a plant nursery outdoor and an indoor pets stores, selling all kinds of accessories relating to pets, dogs, cats, fishes etc. And I especially like this "greenery" as it allows shoppers to take a break from the "noise and crowd" from the lower floors and indulge in some peace and greenery. There is also a cafe here which you can help yourself with some fingerfood.
If you are into shopping and staying near the train station, you will not miss this huge departmental store for sure! Make sure you have sufficient time allocated here (and cash too) for shopping!Written December 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building was cool and it offered multiple floors for fashion & accessories, with numerous dining options.Written October 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Today it is famous for expensive watches , jewelry, chocolates, porcelain and hand bags.Today it sits at the heart of Ginza on Ginza Dori, with its famous clock tower rebuilt in 1932. I poked my head in and then out for the obvious reason but it is worth a look to see an interesting building and real classy shopping--if that is your desire and capability.Written June 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AraleMelbourneMelbourne, Australia427 contributionsThere are two buildings and both basement levels have a large selection of eateries. The building further away from the station opens till late 10:30 or so which was a bonus as we got back quite late from our travels that day. They do not have seats but have standing stations for patrons to eat their food. You order at the eatery you want and pick up before finding your station to finish your meals. They were one of the cheapest meals we had in our entire trip and the ramen were delicious and filling.Written February 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - catchauHong Kong, China97 contributionsA large upscale department store for Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Tiffany, etc right at downtown shopping area. Also a supermarket in the basement. - tama1986Tokyo, Japan19 contributionsIt is the biggest shopping mall among the area. You can find restaurants, a supermarket, fashion shops, furniture shops and playing spots for kids. Unfortunately, you rarely see delicatessens.
There are many English signs. I assume information staffs are capable of speaking English.
地域で一番大きなショッピングモール。なんでもあるとはまさにこのこと。ただ、惣菜持ち帰りができる場所が少ないのが難点。Written March 18, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
