On the Sunday morning of our visit, we were the only visitors to this important but neglected historical tribute to the building of a railway which gave birth to Nyrobi/Nairobi and the colonization of Kenya and beyond. It has been in a time warp since my visit in 2018 and the closed gift shop is presumably a victim of low visitor footfalls and funding. There is lots to fascinate and educate but the paper exhibits are deteriorating. The outdoors cabs and cars are also in a state of slow decay. Only the lost UK industrial penchant for solidity and longevity in matters of iron and steel ensure survival of these artifacts. My wife, not a train enthusiast, found our two hours rewarding and fascinating. Recommended for the train enthusiast and historical buff. BTW, also no cafe and hard to find, at least for Uber drivers.

What made the visit special other than the glass-blowing workshop was the excellent service from staff (who kept checking that I had been explained how glass blowing works), the art gallery (including the incredible view from it where giraffes can be seen), and the quirky well-thought accommodation (eg pool house).

The visit made up for the awful road to and from the location (which may have been better had I been in a 4-wheel drive vehicle). It is a shame the government is not prioritizing the pavement of the road or allowing the community to pave it themselves.

What a trip, it was simply magnificent! Gordie and Felicia have created a beautiful experience. Their attention to every detail made it truly perfect. From the immaculately prepared camps, (hot showers and laundry!) cocktails around a campfire, to the elegant dinners by candlelight, after dinner stories, sleeping to the sounds of hippos and lions and waking up to the lovely staff bringing coffee to us in bed. It was beyond all my expectations.
Best of all were the wonderfully schooled horses, so kind, generous and happy to take care of an assortment of riders. Really professional! If you prefer to ride in the car and see even more wildlife, that option includes a very knowledgable guide who managed to find something wonderful in every drive. and he was a bottomless source of information.
This is an amazing trip! DO IT DO IT DO IT!!! You'll regret it if you don't.

Excellent moment of relaxation in Tigoni location. I will definitely come back. The refreshment, people, view, Fig and Oil nearby, all was perfect. I took lava shell massage and a facial, lave shell was excellent.

The experience was worth every cent, value for money. This gives you a chance to be creative, a problem solver, engage in team work, think outside the box etc. It is actually not easy to escape :-) , I will go back and try to actually escape.

This was our second visit to Amani ya Juu. Our first was last year as part of our Gadventures tour. We had several hours to kill before our next flight, so we had a driver drive us to Amani. It was a wonderful idea and visit. We sat in the beautiful, peaceful garden and drank coffee. The staff was so very pleasant. We shopped a bit, ate a huge lunch and shopped some more. It was so much better than sitting in the airport and I was delighted to get back there. We also noticed local families also enjoyed Amani. The kids could play safely in the play area, while the adults visit. Last year, I was able to sign up for their emails and have ordered from them several times because the items make such great gifts. There are several places that help African girls get back on their feet, but I think what impressed me most is the variety of products they make and the fact they made their own fabric! That is why the patterns change, so if you see what you want. get it before the pattern changes! We hope to get back there one day.

Really enjoyed the tour of the bead factory where a lovely local woman showes us the complex process to make hand made beads. The mission of Kazuri is to empower single mothers. Unbelievable craftmanship make each piece truly unique. I thrilled with the jewelry I purchased and proud to support local woman. Highly recommend you go and support by buy jewelry or adorable clay animals.

We did ‘The Mirror of Love’ and it was really fun! Also quite challenging, as we only just made it in the last second. 😊👍👍

Pre-Safari: Booking, Communication, and Value for Money
We booked a 7-day safari in Kenya with RightChoice Safaris, and George was the reason we chose them. Unlike others who sent standard templates, he took the time to address all my specific requests. His quote was the most reasonable, offering the same premium accommodations that others priced 1.5x higher. George gave us multiple options for stays across different budgets, never pushing for expensive ones. In fact, when I couldn’t decide on a luxury property, he candidly told me it wasn’t worth the cost for just one night—a level of honesty that stood out.

I was initially worried after reading a few critical reviews on Google, but after speaking with George over call, all my doubts vanished. He was extremely kind, understanding, and ensured everything was in order. He even accommodated my last-minute hot air balloon request just two days before the trip! RightChoice gave us the best quote, and George truly values communication and money.

During Safari: Guide, Animal Sightings, and Stays
The safari itself was magical—everything was perfect! Josh, our guide, was simply the best. Not only is he a pro at spotting animals and navigating muddy roads, but he’s also a people person who made us feel instantly comfortable. He connected with each of us and ensured we were always in the best spot for sightings. If all the jeeps were in one place, Josh would take us somewhere else, saying, “Let’s wait here; the animal will cross,” and he was always right. While others competed for position, we’d already be in the prime spot.

We saw elephants, lions, rhinos, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and even foxes—all up close! Josh’s motto, “Nothing is impossible,” really came to life. He even helped me plan a surprise hot air balloon ride for my parents, working closely with the team to keep it under wraps.

    Stays
    • Kibo Safari Camp (Amboseli): Just outside the park gate, with stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Beautiful property and great food.
    • Lake Naivasha Sopa (Naivasha): Loved the giraffes, zebras, and hippos roaming around. Super comfortable with good food options.
    • Lake Nakuru Lodge (Nakuru): Amazing views but a bit outdated. The only property that felt basic, with limited vegetarian options.
    • Mara Serena Safari Lodge (Masai Mara): Premium property in the heart of the park near the Mara River. The views here are unreal!

RightChoice - specifically George and Josh made this a trip of a lifetime. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Thanks to Benjamin and Kennedy for organizing and conducting our short but comprehensive adventure. According to the program, we had 2 Parks - Tsavo East and Amboseli. We wanted rain and clouds - we got it, we wanted to see lionesses - we saw them many and so close.
Unfortunately, we did not see Kilimanjaro completely, but we will leave this for next time.
In terms of organization, everything was on time and promptly. Perhaps, of the many companies where I contacted for information on tours, the answers from Benjamin were "lightning fast", which is very important for all of us - busy people.

Next time for a trip (we would like to go to Masai Mara) we will gladly trust this Company again.

We chose the cheese farm + bike tour plan and had a great time. They were flexible with our specific needs, such as time constraints and the order of activities, and took a very good care of us throughout the day. Highly recommended.
