Staying at Trademark hotel for a few days, I could use some physical exercise: luckily this forest is pretty close by!
I decided to walk from the hotel. A quiet walk through very protected area (daytime). The forest is not very big but there are several trails to choose from. Because of rainy season, options were limited for muddy and slippery conditions. However if you bring good walking shoes then this shouldn’t be a problem. Bear in mind the altitude.
All in all I walked around 10 miles/17 kms this morning. But if you take a taxi, you can opt for 2 miles/3 km to around the 3 or 4 fold of this, in different trails.

Beautiful hike on the outskirts of Nairobi. The first hill is quite long but can be driven up. There are 7 hills total, but my favorite view was actually the third hill. This is a rather challenging hike, especially in the heat of the day as there is very little shade. Plenty of people on the trail, but not a ton of tourists. Those that don’t come are missing out as the hike features beautiful views of both the rift valley and Nairobi. I would be comfortable doing the hike with no guide but arranging transportation may be the challenge.

An amazing little spot in Karen where you can get a decent walk surrounded by beautiful nature. The vegetation is so lush and green and the waterfall is pretty (although you can see several pipes running next to it). The little river is very pretty too especially the bamboo garden. The caves are cool and one of them actually goes quite far back. The trails are not very well marked so ask the guide at the gate to explain the way to you, depending on which route you want to take. You can spend quite a few hours here or do a one hour loop if you wish. There were lots of people taking photos next to the waterfall and water but you can also walk for ages without seeing anyone. It's 400 Kshs per person (resident rate) to enter. Dogs are also allowed and our dog had a lot of fun splashing about in the water. It's a lovely alternative to Karura which seems to be getting more and more busy. The only thing I would say is that I noticed some trash around closer to the more popular spots so it would be good to either add more bins or be more strict with visitors about littering.

Me and boyfriend got a week off and wanted to travel. We planned to visit safari. While searching online I came across the Keru Safaris & Tours. Our tour consultant was Jerusha. She was very polite and helpful. He proposed a 3 day travel in Masai Mara Safari. It was once in a lifetime experience. we even saw the leopard, being the most elusive of the five. The guide was brilliant and knowledgeable and ensured a wonderful and entertaining game drive. The tour was comfortable and pleasant. Definitely worth every penny!!!
