There is someone to pick you up from hotel and transfer you to bus station. The bus leaves at 8am on time from Arusha to Nairobi. Bus condition is ok, a bit old though, about 20 seats. It takes about two hours from Arusha to borber, here you go through customs both Tanzania and Kenya, for about half an hour or so. Then you hop on bus heading to Nairibi , arrive around 13:30 due to some traffic.

Our driver was very helpful and accommodating, and his help at the border crossing was truly invaluable

I have hiked with Africa Outdoors Ltd for a year and half now and Willy has never disappointed. I would highly recommend you to choose Africa Outdoors for your hiking plans both day hikes or several day hikes, whether you are experienced or just starting out or for their Safari offers.

We were picked up at our hotel location, taken to their bus terminal. Very responsive communication via WhatsApp, they make every effort to accommodate. Buses vary in size, but are clean. The driver was helpful navigating the border crossing. No complaints whatsoever.

So I booked two trips going to Kampala one Thursday night in which my colleague would travel with, the bus was to leave at around 10.pm and arrive the following day at maybe 10.am (We call it Bus 1)
I was to board the second bus the following day at 10.pm and arrive on a Saturday the following day (we call it Bus 2)

So Bus 1 left on time and on Friday at 6.am I call my colleague and she tells me that they are at Busia Border. I get excited because I knew she would arrive in time for the Friday afternoon meeting.

So at 11.am I call to find out where they were she says that the bus developed mechanical issues and they were still at the border. They left at around 2.pm....She arrived in Kampala at 9.pm. she ended up missing the very meeting that had taken her to Kampala.

Bus 2: It was to arrive at 10.pm it arrived at 1.am....The bus was a cargo bus and our luggage was stacked inside the bus(Literally where the pathway is). They said that they had luggages and our bags could not fit there.

The bus driver gets shocked and he didn't have a place to sit he insists that atleast afew suitcases have to be put in the carbin. Unfortunately, my bag was among the two that wee shelved away and it got torn and when I asked I was thoroughly insulted and embarrassed infront of other passengers.

Back to the trip: so we get to Nakuru at 4.am as the car is going in a snails pace and at around 12.pm we get to Kisumu (BTW there were people who were going to a funeral and they were late. Did I say that it kept picking up passengers along the way????)

So at Kisumu the car had mechanical issues we were there for 1hr and we were given water as apology. We then proceed to Busia it's about 4.pm the KRA Staff impound the vehicle (remember the undisclosed luggage? I don't know what that was).

It was now approaching 6.pm we looked for a local car and paid fare to go to Uganda. I was arriving at my destination with a torn suitcase, tired hungry and angry at 1.am.

To say that I was livid would not do justice.

Again if you want to travel via Modern Coast, I would rather you just go on foot.
