What travelers are saying
- William P4 contributionsThe company that was supposed to bring the car to the airport early in the morning screwed up. An emergency phone call to Modan and 45 minutes later we were on our way in a rental car. We got a Toyota Harrier in very good condition.
Customer service at a very good level. Good contact by phone and whatsapp. A small misunderstanding about the need to wash the car before returning it does not change the fact that in my opinion Modan is definitely a good choice.Written February 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The SUV was clean and comfortable. We were picked up at our hotel on time. Diana is charming and we had interesting conversations about Nairobi. We went to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Nursery and then to the Giraffe Center. We asked for a good place for lunch and we're impressed bybthe Karen Blixen restaurant.Written September 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Impala were quick to respond and arrange transport. Took a little long to get the driver to the airport once booked but there was heavy security at the time. Our driver was good, assisted getting through the border and got us to Tanzania at a good time.Written August 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Olivier W1 contributionJohn Kimani is a very experienced and friendly driver. I hired him from/to the airport and in Nairobi NP. I highly recommend him if you are traveling to KenyaWritten September 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jla100155Saint Louis, MO22 contributionsWe took this shuttle after I researched how to get to Arusha from Nairobi and back. Private drivers wanted $500 each way. We paid $30 each way. It is a small bus, not luxurious, but provided the transport we needed at a fraction of the cost. There is no molly coddling but we were able to navigate through the border crossing and our driver was looking out for us on the other side. This is a transport used by redidents, not so much for tourists but I would recommend it. You get to see the countryside and would spend just as much time door to door flying with all of the security. Great value for the money. Another note: make sure that you have your yellow fever vaccination forms, because they required it for reentry into Kenya when returning from Tanzania.Written October 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eugene S1 contributionWe rented with Porto on two separate occasions. Wachira met us at Jomo Kenyatta Airport late in the evening to hand the car over and to pickup when we left Kenya. He was always quick to answer via WhatsApp and shared some really great tips about driving in Kenya. I was happy with both cars provided (saloon/sedan, Rav4). No issues at all, and even after returning the Rav4 with quite alot of dirt and mud on the exterior, Wachira was so accomodating and helpful. He really provided personal service that you will never see with most car rental agencies. I highly recommend Porto and will not hesitate to use them again on our next trip to Kenya!Written January 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark E1 contributionOur Experience was incredible from start to finish. Everything was very well organized (thank you Darrius!) and the communication from start to finish was very professional and gave me a sense of security that our money was well spent. I had originally booked with another slightly cheaper operator, however after booking their communications began to make me uneasy and I decided to pivot to Africa Safari. Remember folks you get what you pay for and a trip of a lifetime to Kenya is not something you want to do on the cheap. Our Guide Abu was amazing. He has been a Safari guide in Kenya for almost 40 years and you could tell he had the respect of almost everyone we interacted with. My wife and I spent a whole week just the 3 of us touring Kenya and by the end he felt like more of a friend than our Guide. When he dropped us of at the airport I swear I had a bit of separation anxiety lol. Thank you Abu and the wh
ole Africa Safari team.Written September 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For departures the queue for Kenya airways was absolutely huge, luckily as we were flying with Precision air we avoided all the queues although it still takes a long time to clear security. There are lots and lots of relaxing chairs near all of the gates and plenty of places to sleep if you are transiting through. Several cafes, bars and restaurants are dotted around the airport too.Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GKubwa4 contributionsThe Driver Mr. Benjamin was very helpful. He is professional, very friendly, patient, amicable, a person of great character and a good timekeeper. The vehicle was clean and sound. I really appreciated the services and would recommend Karibu Taxi to my official and family trips.Written February 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MiotoniNairobi, Kenya618 contributionsMost of the cabs at the airport will over charge by at least 30%. While I recognize that airport cabs anywhere usually do, these cabs charge a bit to much. I recommend negotiating. There are enough cabs around that if you bargain, you will get a better deal.Written August 15, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roshni225Mumbai, India1 contributionI recently got back from an amazing seven-day safari that took me to Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, and Nairobi. Nairobi provided a fantastic introduction to the local wildlife and culture at the beginning of the adventure. It was amazing to see the elephants in Amboseli, and the sights of Mount Kilimanjaro were beautiful as advertised. The boat journey was a highlight, and Lake Nakuru's flamingos and rhinos were amazing. Maasai Mara was the grand finale, with thrilling game drives and a magical hot air balloon ride over the Great Migration.
I highly commend Hodari Africa Safaris for their good job in facilitating us through this memorable safari.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sakib EChicago, IL1 contributionMotogari provided excellent service for our 3 week business trip in Kenya. Particularly, Nicholas Muniu was a great driver who went above and beyond to serve our needs. He was always on time to meet us. He was flexible when we needed to change our plans. He gave advice on fun activities to do in our spare time. He kept us safe and acted as our cultural guide and translator when needed. He is a very friendly person with a good heart, and quickly became more of a friend than a driver. In summary, Motogari and Nicholas Muniu were outstanding and we strongly recommend them for transportation for business or vacation in Kenya.Written December 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amit SenNew Delhi, India6 contributionsWe chose Marvels of Africa for our trip to Masai Mara in Sep 2024. They customised an itinerary for us based on our preferences. The MoA team were very helpful and friendly. Himangshu and Marie helped us out with all the details. Mayur curated the itinerary. Frank met us at Nairobi and briefed us on the trip. Our guide, Steve, was brilliant. He made sure we saw everything. He was very patient and travelled all across the Mara to get the best sightings.
All in all, we had a great experience and I will strongly recommend Marvels of Africa for anyone planning to Masai Mara.Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did a five night safari and visited Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha (walking safari) and Amboseli parks then headed the Diani Beach Resort for a week of relaxation!
Right from the beginning of the experience, Silas was prompt and informative when trying to book our trip. He made adjustments to our itinerary to suit our flights exactly and was able to answer any questions we had.
Our driver and guide Gibson was incredible and helped us see a whole range of incredible wildlife up close. He always checked in with what was best for us along the way and we just cannot believe how much we saw! A particular highlight was seeing the great migration of the wildebeests, elephants at amboselo and RHINO in Lake Nakuru.
All accommodation (arranged by Apodiformes Adventures) were brilliant! Staff were friendly and polite, and food was delicious!
We are so grateful for such an amazing experience in Kenya!
