- DiamondStylz317Houston, TX398 contributionsSo much history ..... smaller than I imagined but beautiful on the inside.... Some of the different tunes that you can explore are much harder than others. So make sure you're asking questions about which one are steeper or tighter climbs vs which ones are easier climbs.....Because that can make a difference on your good experience

The place is amazing, full of different things to see (the columns, the entrance with sphinxes, other small temples inside, the lake, obelisks, another entrance with an amazing arch leading to alley of the sphinxes).
The place can get crowded fast (after 10 am), so better to go as soon as it opens.

However, having been ripped off at another site before we sat down for coffee we asked the price, we were given it, then completely ignored, very disappointingWritten March 18, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was built by Queen Hatshepsut on the west bank of the Nile opposite Thebes (the capital of ancient Egypt and the seat of the cult of Amun) (Luxor today). The Temple of Hatshepsut is distinguished by its unique architectural design in comparison with the Egyptian temples that were built on the east bank of the Nile in ThebesWritten February 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MonaIsmaeilEdmonton, Canada133 contributionsYou will pay extra to see this site when visiting the Valley of the Kings. What is unique is that here you can see the mummy of King Tut. His body is very well preserved and you can see the details like how toes, hair, and teeth. Definitely worth the little bit extra.Written December 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

“A Hidden Gem of Ancient Egyptian History”
Visiting Luxor Museum was one of the most enriching experiences during my trip to Egypt. While not as large as the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Luxor Museum offers a more curated and intimate exploration of ancient Egyptian history, with exhibits that are beautifully presented and well-preserved.
Ambiance and Layout:
The museum is thoughtfully designed, with a clean and modern layout that makes it easy to navigate. Unlike some other museums, Luxor Museum doesn’t feel overwhelming. Instead, it allows visitors to truly appreciate each artifact in a calm and quiet atmosphere. The lighting is perfect, highlighting the details of the exhibits without causing glare, and the overall ambiance is serene, adding to the sense of stepping into history.
Exhibits:
Luxor Museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts, many of which were discovered in and around Luxor. The displays include statues, jewelry, pottery, and other treasures from ancient Egypt. Some of the standout pieces include:
• The Statue Gallery: A breathtaking collection of statues of pharaohs and gods, including a magnificent statue of Amenhotep III.
• The Mummies: The museum features two royal mummies, believed to be Ahmose I and Ramses I. They are displayed with detailed information about their history and significance.
• Artifacts from Tutankhamun’s Tomb: The museum includes several items from the tomb of King Tutankhamun, providing a fascinating glimpse into the treasures of the boy king.
• The Akhenaten Hall: This section showcases artifacts from the reign of Akhenaten, giving insight into this unique period of Egyptian history.
Educational Value:
The information panels are clear and concise, available in both Arabic and English, making it easy to understand the significance of each artifact. For those who want a deeper dive, hiring a guide or using an audio tour is highly recommended.
What Makes It Special:
What sets Luxor Museum apart is the quality of its displays. Each item is carefully chosen and impeccably preserved, providing a sense of connection to the ancient world that larger, more crowded museums sometimes lack. It feels like every piece has a story, and the museum does an excellent job of bringing those stories to life.
Practical Information:
The museum is located along the Nile, offering stunning views of the river outside. It’s a great spot to visit after exploring Karnak or Luxor Temple. Plan to spend about 1-2 hours here to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. Photography is allowed in certain areas, but flash is prohibited to protect the artifacts.
Overall Experience:
Luxor Museum is a must-visit for anyone with an interest in ancient history. It’s a place where you can admire the beauty and craftsmanship of ancient Egyptian art without the crowds found at larger museums. Whether you’re an avid historian or just someone who wants to learn more about Egypt’s incredible past, Luxor Museum is sure to leave a lasting impression.
I would highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Luxor—it’s a true gem that shouldn’t be missed!Written December 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We started the walk at Karnak and walked to Luxor temple, the Karnak ticket allows you to walk to a half way point. If you want to continue to Luxor there is a ticket office where you can purchase a further ticket.
It is an amazing feat to have uncovered the avenue but it could be so much better. Signage at Karnak is non existent, we had to Google Earth the temple to find the start point. The middle section is strewn with plastic rubbish when the walk could be made to be so much more attractive.Written November 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jane lTahlequah, OK4 contributionsI loved Titi for Art. They did a wonderful demonstration of alabaster objects creation. The shop was fabulous. The owner and employees were so kind and helpful. - Margaret P3 contributionsTotal respite from the louder, haggle-based market. Gorgeous items, unique from most other offerings. Got some wonderful beaded bags and pillowcase and some small pieces of jewelry. They have ceramics and textiles too. Prices are marked and even if they were a tiny but higher than what I could have haggled elsewhere, the shopping experience was so pleasant that I was able to linger and ended up buying more than I would at a single market stall.Written February 19, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sherpa403372082481 contributionA1 Taxis Luxor is a great taxi in the city. We took the taxi together with 5 friends to go to the city centre from the cruise docks. He waited for us and then got us back to the docks. He has provided an exceptional service with a very good market-price. He even showed up with bottle waters. A very much appreciated gesture, particularly in Luxor’s heat. We all recommend.Written March 19, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
