What travelers are saying
- Martin HHong Kong, China697 contributionsThis is one of the most impressive temples in Luxor and Egypt.
The avenue of ram-headed sphinxes at the start sets the scene. The large Great Hypostyle Hall is impressive with its many richly carved columns. The obelisks are grand too.
We came back in the evening to attend the light and sound show and whilst this was initially very good, by the time we sat in the bleachers at the far end of the Sacred Lake, it felt as if they were trying to fill in for time and there wasn't much relevant content to what they were discussing.Written March 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tombs were amazing. You need
To have good mobility to manage all the steps and being in a valley it’s hot , really hot!
The cafes there have outrageous prices, you can negotiate on even buying a can of drink.

One time to see it lit up — beautiful, but the crowds are so overwhelming that it is impossible to move inside. So go again in the early afternoon to actually appreciate this archeological marvel.Written March 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CaliforniaMuppetSedona, AZ100 contributionsThis was unbelievable - all the columns and colors and VERY FEW tourists. Most of the reliefs were so well defined. Everything was decorated - even the underside of the roofs. This is generally not on the itinerary of most tour buses visiting the VOK so going independently with a driver is the way to go. 100 Egyptian Pounds was a great bargain.Written November 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NickellFamilyTravelLos Angeles, CA2,289 contributionsIt’s pretty cool to see over a mile and half of sphinx’s lining both sides of the avenue. The avenue was designed to connect the Luxor temple to the Karnak temple. And they would use the parade route to show off certain idols in front of the ppl who lived there at the time.Written February 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JS T122 contributionsOne of the most impressive and surprisingly empty temples we have visited in Egypt. We visited with Ramesside Tours and were amazed by the scale and design of the complex, and the fact that it's still standing after facing earthquakes and pillaging centuries ago. Highly recommend combining this with a visit to Valley of the Nobles and Medinat Hebu, which Ramesside Tours was happy to arrange.Written February 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One of their representatives, Mohammed, worked out of the lobby of our Hotel, making it incredibly easy for us to coordinate with him for travel to the West Bank. He was amazingly patient and helpful as we planned out sites for each day, including those off the beaten path. They connected us with drivers, Basha and Mahmoud, who knew the routes and were patient, good humored and kind as we lingered about five times as long in any given site as most travelers do. Mahmoud even graciously helped me with my Arabic when I told him I was learning. Everyone showed us the genuine warmth, deep courtesy, and terrific connectedness to sites around Luxor.ÂWritten January 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - aliciaj2017Toronto, Canada8 contributionsAbsolutely fabulous. The highlight of our trip through Egypt. Superb staff, fun, informative and always happy to help. Wonderful quarters, both the sleeping cabins and the upper deck for lounging and meals - superb authentic Egyptian food.
Every day held a different itinerary including monuments, temples, a walk in the desert, swimming in the Nile, a visit to a small village and local market and all this intermingled with leisurely cruises past beautiful scenery on the Nile. Our guide was amazingly knowledgeable and thoroughly entertaining - Haddi (sp?)
