ACE- Animal Care in Egypt
#3 of 70 things to do in Luxor
They do fantastic work here with the working animals of the city, as well as family pets, and do all this with love and care free of charge.
It is a lovely facility with plenty of staff on hand and it’s good to look at the classroom and the pictures of the local school children have drawn of people being kind to animals.
Temple of Medinat Habu

We were the only family visiting when we arrived which was really nice and added to the ambiance.

It is entertaining and very much fun if you have children - (but take a note to watch well overthem as it's a little dark - indeed the run through history is done by remarkable voices one of which - Omar Sherif -...

The entire family loved this place with the 3km of sphinx in the middle of the city which is more like a town.

Karnak Open Air Museum
#9 of 70 things to do in Luxor
There are plenty of children outside the entrance to sell you things and souvenir shops near the parking lot so you can browse on your way out.
Make sure you ignore the touts selling vastly, vastly overpriced souvenirs and please don't encourage the children selling post cards, they should be in school.

Tomb of Ramses VI

Definitely spend the money on a photo pass, the pictures are so fun to share with family and friends back home.
an awful lot of walking is what you remember most, really not much to see, lots of steps down to the tombs after a trail up hills to get to them! no good for children or wheelchairs or people who struggle to walk.

Valley of the Artisans (Deir el-Medina)
#13 of 70 things to do in Luxor
There were just three of us in the whole Valley last week to see where the amazing craftsmen lived and died with their families over 3,000 years ago.
They only had two days off in a year, and that is when they spent time on decorating these particular tombs for themselves and/or their families.
