This is a definite necessary visit when in this part of the world. You will be spellbound by sheer feat necessary to build this grandiose site. We were travelling during the low season tourist period, yet it did not feel this way. This is a must see, but we strongly suggest that you have a guide (if not already provided). DO NOT FORGET TO BRING WATER, YOU WILL NEED IT. Safety is very good, but do be prepared to be often solicited by locals to view “this”, or “that”, part of a “very special part” of the temple. If you accept, you will have to give a tip (perhaps 20 Egyptian pounds, ˜0.50$ US). If you are not interested, a respectful, but firm, “no thank you” (LA SHOKRAN, pronounced in Arabic) will usually do the trick, but if the wannabe vendor is persistent, “no enough” (LA HALAS) will usually work.

You could arrange a taxi from Luxor and walk around after purchasing tickets. If you have come this far, hire a guide for in depth knowledge you don’t have. Each tomb is unique and get an earful before entering as your guide normally doesn’t go inside. Obviously, King Tut is a highlight, so don’t miss it, as his body is displayed in his chamber. Hand your camera to a guard, as they have figured out some of the best shots inside the chamber. Give him some Lira. We went into 4. Each unique. One of the best is at the end of the valley, so take water and hat.

If you get the chance this is a must see. But you will definitely need a guide , so you know what you are looking it. Take a lot of cool water, it can get very hot.

Not her tomb, but a temple. She was the only pharaoh that was female — for 20 years. Amazing. It was extremely hot so be prepared with water.

This temple complex should definitely be on your list in Luxor. The carvings are deep, the colors are beautiful and there is much to see and discover. I found it less busy than Luxor and Karnak but just as interesting.

You don’t need this review to understand why King Tut is a must see. Well worth your time after seeing the many numerous documentaries. I would never recommend this elsewhere but ask the chamber guard to take a few pictures for you. After spending days, and years inside they have some unique photo shoots. Just ask.

No one would read a TripAdvisor review before deciding to go inside. Why did you come to Egypt? Jaw dropping and unique on earth.

The Avenue had only been open about 7 months when we visited--we didn't get a chance to walk from one temple to the other, but many people were doing so. FYI--Google maps hasn't updated yet--we were walking in town, and the street it directed us to abruptly ended because the Avenue had been built! Very cool to stand at one end and look down the Avenue--video of the opening procession was interesting as well!

We picked this one as part of our visit to the Valley of the Kings. It was recommended by our tour guide and we were not disappointed.

These famous colossi are located next to a road. They were carved from one block of stone. The 19,5 ms high sitting figures represent the pharaoh of Amenhotep III. The smaller figures at their feet represent his mother and his wife. Only these two giant statues remain from the king's former mortuary temple. We arrived at them by bus and spent only some minutes to take photos. It’s worth to see them.

I enjoyed this one the most. The preservation and colors that were displayed were better than all the others. Maybe because she was a woman and had better design taste???

These tombs are very small but filled with such artistry. Very well preserved, they are worth a stop. Also, only a handful of visitors were here when we visited so you can take your time.

I visited it in February and it was not crowded at all. Had a great time and it’s definitely a must see when you visit Luxor.

We were not expecting much about those tombs, but we really enjoy a lot there!
These tombs are very different from VoK.
Tomb 96 (Sennofer) is from another world. I had to search for articles to really be sure that it was not recently painted, because it looks that someone painted it like yesterday, amazing.
Tomb 55 (Ramose) is also interesting and different from any other.

    Tips:
    1. Visit tomb 96 and 55.
    2. There is a guy offering for help when you arrive there. You should decline!!! The paths are very well identified and this guy will ask you a lot of money later.
    3. There is always a 'guard' in the tombs to check your ticket. They will explain the paintings and of course later they will expect something from you. We paid between 5-10EGP for each of them and really worth it. They were kind and gave a lot of good explanations. So prepare some small bills for them.
