Our guide, Aziz, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive. He brought ancient sites like Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings to life with fascinating stories and tailored the experience to our interests.

Traveling with a toddler can be challenging, but Salwa was incredibly patient and understanding, which made the trip so much more enjoyable for our family.
Salwa’s knowledge of Luxor’s history, culture, and heritage was outstanding. She provided us with deep insights into the city’s ancient kingdoms, temples, and daily life in historical Egypt. Her storytelling made the sites like the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple come alive.
What stood out the most was Salwa’s calm and accommodating approach. There was no rushing or impatience, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in each location. She ensured we had plenty of time to explore, ask questions, and take in the beauty of Luxor.
We highly recommend this tour, especially with Salwa as your guide. We had an unforgettable, private VIP hot air balloon ride in Luxor, with Marwan as our incredible guide. Our adventure started with a 5am pickup by car, complete with a small breakfast, which was a thoughtful touch. After a short ride, we reached the balloons and were ready for lift-off.
The experience of watching the sunrise from a hot air balloon was simply magnificent and truly a must on any trip to Luxor. We even opted for a videographer (a little extra but so worth it) to capture every magical moment. After the balloon ride, we were taken to a boat where we enjoyed stunning coastline views on our way back to the hotel.
Every detail was perfectly planned, and it made for an unforgettable day. - Mark RBrighton, England, United Kingdom2 contributionsWe had an amazing day trip to Luxor with Book Tour Egypt, booked through TripAdvisor. It was incredible value for money.
The day started with a 5am pickup from our hotel (small extra fee for hotel pickup, which is normal in Egypt). The mini-van was comfortable, and our two drivers were friendly and professional. They made two toilet stops during the journey, and we could safely leave our bags in the van throughout the day.
Our group split into English and French speaking (4 people each). Our English guide, Salaam, was exceptional - knowledgeable, theatrical, and brought the ancient sites to life with his storytelling. He even taught me some Arabic phrases! When one guest had trouble with a persistent vendor, Salaam handled it professionally.
Sites visited:
- Karnak Temple: Incredible but busy. Still got great photos
- Valley of the Kings: Amazing experience. Visited 3 tombs (skipped Tutankhamun's tomb and didn't feel we missed out)
- Temple of Hatshepsut: Restored but interesting
- Nile boat trip (card payment accepted)
The included lunch was a good buffet with plenty of choices (drinks extra). We also stopped at a pottery/souvenir shop but felt no pressure to buy anything.
The pace was quick (about an hour per site) and sometimes felt rushed, but understandable given how much there is to see.
Tips for future travelers:
- Get a good night's sleep before - if you struggle sleeping on buses, bring a travel neck pillow
- Bring plenty of sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) - Luxor is especially hot!
- Plenty of toilet opportunities throughout the day
- Water provided
- No passport was needed. Take it with you in case but don’t worry too much if you forget. Take a picture on your phone just in case.
- Can leave bags safely in van
- Tip your drivers and tour guides well if you are happy with the service as is the custom in Egypt
Return time was 8:45pm - a long but incredibly worthwhile day. - Camper7327111 contributionI travelled to Luxor today, 28/11/24 with my partner and daughter. We were picked up by Ahmed who was our driver for the day. He was prompt, catered to our every need and made sure we were at our destinations before all of the queues. He thought of everything that we may need throughout the day. Water, fizzy, snacks, ice cream and raw sugar cane. He showed us sights along the journey sugar cane plantations, banana island and he played information on a tv in his van. The van had free WiFi, had charging ports and air conditioning. The vehicle was clean, comfortable and had reclining seats with cushions provided. We met Siad in Luxor who was our tour guide for the day. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, joked with us and advised us on how to avoid being hassled by the local sellers. He made sure we understood everything and was always willing to answer any questions. We arrived back at our hotel at 7.30 pm in time for dinner.
