- LusitaniaRussia1 contributionWe had a fantastic trip and tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind. The day was packed with fun adventures, shopping and experiences. Our tour guide (Moo) was very knowledgeable and great at taking incredible photos, it was a great day.Written March 10, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AMsaysThornhill, Canada5,300 contributionsThe Great Pyramid of Cheops is utterly phenomenal and much larger than you would expect from photos. It is inconceivable that it was built so precisely so many years ago without the technology that we are so reliant on nowadays. Built for King Khufu around (c.2589–2566 BC) it retains that aura of magnificence that doesn’t do it justice in photos or on screen. I’m so glad I went when this opportunity presented itself. Wow, justifiably an UNESCO World Heritage Site.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - liucy752Taipei, Taiwan1,848 contributionsThere are lots of unsolved mysteries of the Great Sphinx: when it was built?, who built it? what's its function? and even why the nose and beard were destroyed?..... The answers are all controversial and inconclusive. You can find the stories on the internet.
The same feeling as seeing the pyramids. Though have seen it dozens of times in books, on Internet, and in videos, it’s still overwhelming and touching to see it in person.
So surprised and happy to find that the craftsmen even carved out the lion's tail.Written February 15, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was just in awe as I looked at this magnificent structure built so many years ago. The pyramids were built to ensure that their smooth, angled sides symbolizing the sun’s rays and would help the Pharaoh’s soul ascend to heaven and join the gods. The continued existence of the pyramids after 4,000 years is a testament to their mastery of precision, ingenious craftmanship and architectural insight. It is really an incomprehensible sight.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- aspoe093Pierre, SD731 contributionsThe places around the pyramids and sphinx. We went to the back where you can see all the pyramids together which made for some great photos. Also you can ride camels there if you want. Negotiate a price and you can get some good photos of yourself riding a camel in front of the pyramidsWritten January 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Woodys5Sydney, Australia386 contributionsWe booked a driver through our hotel to take us to the Dahshur Pyramid, Memphis and Saqqara. We did not book a tour and maybe we should have. We read up about all the areas before visiting, however a tour guide may explained more ‘stories’.
The entrance fee into Dahshur is EGP 400 and if travelling without a tour group, there is an EGP 25.00 for the vehicle being used to travel through. EGP 425 is approximately AUD 13.00
We enjoyed the drive out of Giza and the whole day was much more peaceful. There were no touts selling their wares and we were able to walk around the red pyramid without hassle. The Red Pyramid is third-largest pyramid, one of three pyramids built by King Sneferu. The Bent pyramid is located one km south and also built by King Sneferu.
Going inside the pyramid did not appeal to me and I was happy to admire their beauty from outside. Definitely worth a visit if only stopping for a short visit.Written February 1, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He ruled for 67 years, which was the most strong period of ancient Egypt.
Therefor his statues can be seen everywhere: the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, the Ramesseum, the Abu Simbel Temple,... and even the British Museum. (While his mummy is in the The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, NMEC).
This huge statue is on display at the Museum of Memphis. Although only the upper body is left, the meticulous carving can still be seen. The art and craftsmanship of ancient Egypt is truly admirable.
Also came here to pay my respects to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, although most of it is in ruins.Written March 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But he died before it was finished in the 4th dynasty, around 2510 BC. It is 213 ft tall (65m) and the smallest of the 3 main pyramids. Thee gash on the northern face was the start of an unsuccessful demolition by the second Sultan of Egypt, Al-Aziz Uthman. The furthest pyramid from the access point, so not as busy as the other pyramids. Still worth a look - you've come this far!Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Daian HCalifornia51 contributionsEasy, interesting and relaxing education in Egyptian Pharaonic history. We went with the intention of providing our young granddaughter with a child friendly education, other than having to read to her museum plaques and hustle her past mummies. All of us enjoyed this outdoor living history museum. Not the least of it was that most of the tour took place seated on a boat drifting along a tributary of the Nile, with breezy papyrus stands and white egrets. So relaxing and welcome after hoofing it around the Pyramids complex in 100 degrees F. They seem to offer various language narrations. Proof of the value of the education was at Edfu, our granddaughter recognized the offering room which was described to us at Pharaonic Village. Waiting area is air conditioned and sells light snacks--like Doritos and Coca Cola which was welcome and familiar fare to youngsters.Written June 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MohammedNasserCairo, Al Qahirah, Egypt28 contributionsThe park is as great as before, except that it has no decent restaurants or cafes. You will have to pay more inside the park for the paid rides. Safety is well maintained over there. It is very hard to reach from downtown and add a time margin for traffic, but it was worth all the effort. I really enjoyed my time.Written July 15, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thomas VOakland, CA19,446 contributionsYour tour bus should take you up the hill above the Giza Plateau site so that you are poised above the pyramid site. This is the best place to take photos. There will be a lot of guys with camels who want to sell you rides. You can say yes or no.Written May 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
