A friend of ours is a complete fan of Agatha Christie in general and "Death on the Nile" in particular, so a group of us ended up booking 5 nights on the SS Sudan.

The food was French, but lighter to cater to the hot weather and excellent, with allergies and intolerances catered to impeccably. Service too was very good with many nice touches, like the cold towels and welcome back drinks handed out after each temple visit. In general, the suites and rooms feel luxurious for a boat and have a real olde-worlde feel enhanced by the copious amount of carefully hand-shined brass used in the construction. I would recommend a tour of the bridge and the engine room to truly appreciate the working steam engines and paddles. The manager Mr Amir and the staff are wonderfully welcoming and keen to explain the history and workings of the ship.

My friend was absolutely over the moon and felt the experience was life-changing. As I am not a particular fan of Ms Christie although I have read several of her novels and seen 2 DOTN movies, I enjoyed the experience but honestly felt it was a bit overpriced for what we got. There is no entertainment on board beyond a screening of one of the DOTN movies. The internet and the hot water ranged between somewhat and very intermittent and there wasn't a costume night or something Agatha Christie-themed that might have got us more into the period mood. Honestly, even 1 formal evening might have made a bit of a difference.

However, if you're a big fan of spending your holidays relaxing on deck with cups of tea, books and cocktails, then you'll find it heaven, and the scenery drifting past was often very pretty indeed. Being more of an adventure travel person, I was honestly sometimes quite bored, but held my peace while my friends happily raved about the experience.

So I am writing this short review for people considering taking this cruise and to balance out those who rave endlessly about it. It is v expensive, as it is the only working Steamship on the River Nile and the French company that have invested a lot in the renovations basically have a monopoly. It's worth it if you really like the idea of period travel, are crazy about Steamships or are a mad fan of Ms Christie or just like v v slow scenic luxury cruises with not a lot to do between temple visits. Other than that you might want to consider other options.

What a gem! This tranquil spot in the middle of was the treat I needed from the bustle of Cairo. I went on my last day in Cairo and marveled at the space, layout, ambiance and just seeing people in Cairo celebrate their weddings and families in one spot. I throughly enjoyed the flora and walkways and most importantly the meal that sealed the deal at Citadel restaurant. At 45Egyptian pounds it's a steal.

Our vacation in Egypt, arranged by Memphis Tours Travel agency, was incredible. A special thanks to Mai Mohamed for orchestrating such a well-organized trip. Despite the last-minute booking, she managed to arrange everything, including our flights, in under two weeks. Her professionalism, excellent communication skills, and prompt email responses ensured that everything proceeded smoothly according to plan.

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, our tour leader Kero welcomed us and helped with our visas. He efficiently managed our schedule, communicated effectively, and consistently checked on our well-being. A.K, who transported us to the hotel with our driver Mohamed, was hospitable and presented us with a coin as a gift. In Cairo, our tour guide Ossama Sharaf and driver Mohamed provided excellent company. Ossama's extensive knowledge of the sites enhanced our experience. And we are very thankful that he recommended a visit to Saqqara and National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. Mohamed, had a very positive disposition and always offered a selection of chocolates and treats in the van. They even treated us to fresh bananas and oranges. The restaurant where we had lunch twice, with its view of the Giza pyramids, was very nice and offered delicious cuisine. Our package included a complimentary photo session at the pyramids, where our photographer, Hamoud, was engaging and captured fantastic photos. Upon our return to Cairo from Aswan, Islam, who was equally kind, greeted us at the airport and escorted us to our hotel.

We embarked on a Nile River cruise from Luxor to Aswan aboard the Sonesta St. George and have nothing but praise for the staff and crew. A special thanks to the General Manager for consistently ensuring our comfort. The culinary team, led by Chef Said, provided excellent food with beautiful presentation and outstanding service, thanks to our dedicated servers Herolos, Armia, and Abdo. They were attentive to our needs, accommodating my husband's dietary preferences. Mina, the bar assistant manager, was exceptionally nice and friendly, ensuring we had our beverages and cookies during afternoon tea on the upper deck and pointing out significant sites along the way. His hard work as both DJ and bartender during the evening socials ensured a fun atmosphere for everyone. A heartfelt thank you to Mina. Although I didn't catch the name of the individual who sprayed sanitizer each time we boarded the ship, his beautiful smile and friendly demeanor did not go unnoticed. Our tour leader in Luxor, Ali, took great care of us, efficiently managing behind-the-scenes tasks and introducing us to the city with a horse-drawn carriage tour.

Our Nile River cruise from Luxor to Aswan was made unforgettable by our tour guide, Hany Refaat. His exceptional knowledge and willingness to share the history and details of each site we visited—including Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon, Ptolemaic Temple at Edfu, Kom Ombo Temple with the Crocodile Museum, the Unfinished Obelisk, Temple of Philae, a small boat cruise for bird watching and a visit to a Nubian home, and Abu Simbel Temple—immensely enriched our understanding of Egyptian history, culture, and the people, making this one of the best trips we've ever experienced. He demonstrated great professionalism and care, consistently ensuring that we were comfortable. He also ensured we were taken cared of at the stores we visited. We highly recommend him as a tour guide. The drivers during the various tours were also very nice.

We traveled from Egypt to Jordan to explore Petra, which was another exceptionally positive and memorable experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Mohammed who helped us with the visa process and escorted us to our hotel. Our driver throughout our stay in Jordan, Mohamed I, was outstanding. The journey from Amman to Petra was roughly three hours, yet Mohamed kept us engaged with his entertaining personality, informative talks, and by sharing Jordanian coffee and snacks with us. Our guide in Petra, Ma'akmoon, was excellent. It was evident that he is highly respected locally. He also proved to be a talented photographer and videographer. Thanks to Ma'akmoon, we have wonderful photos and videos of our time in Petra. We strongly recommend both Mohammed I and Ma'akmoon to anyone planning a visit to Petra.

In both Cairo and Amman, our accommodations were at the Four Seasons Hotel, which was quite beautiful. We enjoyed dining by the poolside in Cairo, where the food and service were outstanding. The breakfasts at both locations were also exceptional. The hotel restaurant staff were particularly nice and friendly, especially in Amman (Rachel and Sheena)

Overall, it was a highly positive experience. Shukran and kudos to all!

An excellent tour with guide Martina. She gave us a depth history on all our sites visits which I would never have known. She made the trip of a life time to remember taking pics were awesome. Our driver Nassa was also good navigating us through the busy streets of Cairo.
    Highly recommend.

All locations in the Pyramid area have been introduced by our guide Mohamed. He gave a lot of information about region. We took photo breaks at beautiful spots. The weather was hot, but the air condition in our vehicle compensated. Eshref was a good driver and the journey was safe. I recommend this trip.

I took a three week tour with this company and they were the best! My Alexandria - Cairo tour with Alber and Zaki was unbelievable. They took such great care with us from Foad meeting us at the airport to taking us to all our spots in safe comfort. All the guides, again special call out to Alber, were so passionate and informed. It was an unforgettable experience that was so well curated. Egypt is a tough country to negotiate but Djed makes it such an easy and delightful experience. I cannot imagine doing it any other way.

I was planning a trip to Cairo to get to know Coptic Egypt better and explore the tradition of the Egyptian church for my PhD research. Initially, it was supposed to be only a research trip. I had visited Egypt many times before but I also wanted to show it to my friends from Ireland and Poland. And their dream, in turn, was to see pyramids and mummies.... Why not? Studying and spending time with friends turned out to be a good idea. I sent an outline of my plans to the Egypt Day Tours office, which had been recommended by my good friend from Dublin, Anto. Soon I received a ready-made plan that fully met our expectations. The wonderful Egypt Day Tours team organized a wonderful time for us, taking care of every detail. We were first greeted at the airport. Professional visa arrangements by the company representative and safe passage with our luggage from the chaotic interior of the airport took us just a few minutes to find ourselves in an air-conditioned car with a smiling driver, Mustafa, and another Egypt Day Tours representative, Mahmoud, who took us safely to the hotel. Our guide, Ayoub, welcomed us on the following day at the Grand Egyptian Museum. He is very knowlegable and willingly answered all our questions and did his best to show us as much as possible. Extending our itinerary, he also offered other places to see, so we had the opportunity to visit many other sites worth visiting. For me, his knowledge of the Coptic Church turned out to be extremely valuable. The company also provided services outside normal working hours; whenever we needed help we could count on it. Mahmoud accompanied us on evening trips to the city, to restaurants and helped with shopping, especially of my favourite spices ... The agency offered free of charge evening transfers as well. Although we spent only five days in Cairo, we have an impression that we have seen much more than we expected... We are already planning another trip with the same agency. This time to the Upper Egypt ...

We took the four-day/three-night Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor aboard the Sonesta Moon Princess, which is categorized as an "ultra-luxury" ship. The ship is very nice and has what I believe to be an itinerary very similar to most of the other 400 Nile cruise ships going from Aswan to Luxor. We chose the Moon Goddess because it is one of the few Nile cruise ships that has cabins with a balcony, however small that balcony may be. Our cabin (typically small as on most Nile cruise ships) on the 4th deck, the food, the decor, and the service were all very good. There was some Nubian entertainment one evening before dinner and a belly dancer and whirling dervish dancer another evening.

As is typical, the ship ties up alongside other ships, sometimes four deep, at the limited docking space, at night and cruises during part of the two full days, so while docked your view might be of another ship just a very few feet away. The scenery is lovely along much of the route and we spent most of our cruising time on the top deck, which has a sunny pool area with lounge chairs and a shaded area with tables and chairs. The ship has a very small shop, a spa where you can get a massage, and a couple of exercise machines.

We had booked a private guide through our tour company and he stayed on the ship the entire time except when taking us on tours at all of the stops. Many other ships have the same itinerary and are at the same stops as the Moon Goddess, so our tour sights were usually quite crowded.

We enjoyed the cruise and I recommend the Sonesta Moon Goddess.

I booked a private, 2-week tour of Egypt with Your Egypt Tour (YET) in October 2024.
The preparation of the trip was very smooth, YET was very helpful in adapting the trip to their public - myself and 2 teenagers.
Top moments for us were: camping in the desert, visiting the GEM in Cairo, visiting the temples in Edfu and Luxor (and many others) and the Valley of the Kings.
As for the guidance during the trip: it was flawless. General questions were answered within minutes by the ever charming Peter Mamdouh, the lovely guides both in Cairo (Mamdouh Ismail) and Upper Egypt (Mamdouh Youssef) were experts in their domain and adapted their stories to the teenagers. The team's goal was for us to have an interesting, safe and happy holiday, and they succeeded 200%.

Since I was very happy with the pyramide, sphinx + camel-ride tour provided, I decided to book another tour. This time my family and I wanted to escape chaotic Cairo for the day and really wanted to see the dead sea without traveling too far by plane or by bus. Thats why the Full Day Tour to the red sea from Cairo, sounded like the perfect option for us. The tour includes:

Transfer from/to and from your hotel (1,5/2 hours drive to Ain el Suknha)

A driver + guide; Ours for the day were Hany + Ali. Hany is for real the best driver in Egypt and we absolutely enjoyed Ali’s knowledge, company and his care for us. Together they were a great team!

    Water + snacks (chips, popcorn)

It also includes a super nice lunch at the hotel

A day room at the beach front hotel. *PLEASE NOTE*; Make sure that you really get this, since this is included in the package. We we’re traveling with a child and thats the main reason I booked this tour. So that we besides relaxing at the pool and beach we could use our day room to shower and relax after the beach. So expecting that our room would be shown to us as first, would not have happened if I did not have asked for it. At first we were told that it only included a changing/shower room, which really was just a public toilet with a shower next to it.. In all honesty I did feel a bit fooled because it is literally mentioned in the description of the tour that a private beach front day room will be provided. And I felt that if I did not ask about the room that it would not be given it to us. All was solved by Ali when we mentioned the package description, but I just wanted to share this with fellow travellers that will or are going to book this tour and to make sure they get what they are paying for.

We did have absolutely had wonderful day. The resort was beautiful and well taken cared off. Since its not high season it almost felt that we had the beach to ourselves. Loved it! I would recommend this tour everyone + Ali and Hany. They made this trip a memorable one for us and our son and when I ask what his favorite part of our trip to Egypt was he would without doubt say “ Our day trip to the Red Sea”!!
English was super good and the car super clean!
Major thanks to Ali for his guidance and offering many times to watch and play with our son. Ali is not Afoosh ;)!
Also to Hany for entertaining him in the car with cartoons Nemo + Tom & Jerry :)!

Next time I’ll come to Egypt we’ll book here again!

We recently completed an unforgettable 8-day tour with Cleopatra Egypt Tours, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, making our journey through Egypt truly special.

Our guide Franco was a standout. He consistently went above and beyond to take care of us—always making sure we were comfortable, offering us cold water, and being incredibly mindful of our well-being, especially during the warmer days. His kindness and attentiveness were deeply appreciated, and he ensured we could fully enjoy every part of the experience without feeling rushed or tired.

The itinerary was top-notch, covering the best of Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan with knowledgeable Egyptologists who brought the history and beauty of Egypt to life. Every detail was handled with care, making it a smooth and enriching adventure.

We highly recommend Cleopatra Egypt Tours for anyone seeking a professional, well-organized, and thoughtful tour guide in Egypt. Truly a 5-star experience!

During a long layover at Cairo airport, we decided to do some exploring. We felt completely comfortable leaving our luggage in the car, as we had total confidence in our guide, Ashraf. He was fantastic, showing us around and making us feel right at home. Ashraf's insights and knowledge were exceptional, and he made sure we had an amazing experience!

Excellent trip. This was tailor made for our group with very efficient email contact. We were so well looked after from the moment we landed. The guides were really good. The internal flights and transport all worked really well. The Nile cruise was so comfortable and relaxing.
